A Mother's Love and the King's Life || Closed Event
Storms had wracked the region as of late. Because of that, Kachessa had taken the day off when it turned out sunny, clear and dry. A walk with her son through the gardens would be nice. She'd even selected a book he happened to like to read aloud as they walked. And when Rook got a little ahead of her as they walked beneath the trees, she didn't mind. He was having fun, laughing and enjoying the sun. She had... Missed this.
A creak reached her ears, then the groan of something about to give. She looked up to see one of the trees along the way--damaged by high winds and storms, no doubt--prepare to give out. And it was leaning over the path, right over where her son was stopped to investigate a butterfly perched on a flower.
She moved without thought. Her son's name was ripped from her throat as the book was tossed back. He looked up, the sound of splintering wood and then the pathway was dyed red amidst screams.
A prince looked up from where a shove had placed him, horror appearing over his features as he saw his 'father' pinned beneath the heavy tree. Already, guards and servants had begun to arrive, hearing the king's screams, and together they moved the trunk away and then moved the injured king to her chambers where only a select few would be allowed to enter.
Queen Yufina herself arrived to escort her son away from the horrid sight, to comfort him as he needed it. She would cancel all appointments because of the emergency, choosing instead to keep the prince close while waiting for word.
That had been hours ago. Kachessa had finally woken, the coppery taste of blood in her mouth. A cough, and then tears of pure agony as she tries to move. She can't feel her lower body, largely numbed from simply how much pain she'd felt. So she refuses to move. Instead, she lies on her back, pillows piled high behind her.
She remembers. A doctor--one she trusts with her secret--tells her what happened, that Rook was saved and is with the queen. But they aren't sure if the king will survive. There's no way to tell how much damage had been done. Kachessa dismisses him.
"...Haa... L-Looks like... A certain someone m.. May be visiting soon."
