Over the past two years, I have received Twitter DMs, texts, emails, and Facebook messages from people asking how in the world did I get started in freelancing. Initially, I didn't have any mentors and fell flat on my face a lot of times. But through that trial and error, I learned a lot. I have written for over thirty publications, such The New Yorker, The New York Times, EBONY, ELLE, The Atlantic, The Guardian, and BuzzFeed, and my online writing has landed me a literary agent as well as a book deal. Now, I'm ready to show what I've learned. This industry is tough. Sections shut down and jobs get cut, which only makes the competition more stiff. In order to set yourself apart from the rest, you need to get some bylines at well-known publications. But how and where? Look no further. I'm here to help you. So! What does this class package include? 3 weekly group classes (when you click your preferred date, that is the starting date, don't worry) 1 personal one-on-one consulation with me Homework and feedback in between classes Q & A time during classes If you will miss a class, please let me know ahead of time so I can record the session for you. If anything pops up and you cannot take the class before the sessions begin, refunds will be granted on or by August 30th, no exceptions. While I can't guarantee any of your pitches will be greenlit, this class will give you the tools to be able to navigate the industry. Cool? Cool.
