Trick or treat!
You're getting... a TRICK!!
Mwhahahah!
Trick or treat!
🍬 Treat! Here's one of my favourite excerpts from The Power and the Glory:
4, 6, & 8!
End of the Year Writeblr
4. what is your favorite line you wrote this year?
OOH that's a tough one!! I have,, literally my entire draft so far to go off of, but I do think this one sentence I've shared before sticks with me:
I really thought becoming a vampire meant I would be swept away to some faraway castle where I would be courted by its enigmatic lord, where I would become the subject of poems, the next muse for the dark and mysterious, and no one would think of lifting a finger to hurt me ever again.
6. did you make any new writeblr friends? give a shout-out! if not, it's time to praise one of your old besties <3
I did!! I created this blog this year; shoutout to some peeps I've interacted with: @writernopal (hi!!) @liv-is @sam-glade
Also sorry I haven't been super active on here as of late; it can be a bit exhausting trying to keep up with a whole bunch of things at once! I'm keeping up the writing though and am eager to share my progress!
8. what are three things you're looking forward to next year?
Well, the biggest thing is...I'm on track to finishing my entire first draft next year!! So I'm looking forward to that, as well as revisions, finding beta readers, and hopefully polishing my manuscript! I also may start working on other WIPs in the meantime, and look into finding an agent, and maybe even outline book 2 of this series since it's been roughly plotted out!
There's also some new books and shows coming out next year that I'm excited for!
♻️🌋?
Thanks for the ask, friend <3 I'll answer for Invisible Girl! 🚂
♻️Imagine you decide to re-work your story as a completely different genre. Would the plot still work? What would change? (Question asker can pick the genre or leave it up to the writer)
Ooh, this is so neat! Right now, The Invisible Girl is an adventure/heist story, but I think most of the important elements would be safe if it was a murder mystery. Possibly even sci fi? I think sci fi would be cool, actually, with a huge space train...many thoughts 😉
🌋Describe the climax or highest-tension part of your story as best as you can without spoilers!
The Invisible Girl climax (as of now) takes place around midnight on the final journey day, on top of the moving train! There are gunshots and people falling off and shouted confessions and sacrifices...and hopefully a twist that the cleverest of readers might see coming--a twist that makes you think "ah. that makes sense and really ties things up."
Send me a plot ask?
Happy STS! Share your favorite piece of meta-lore for your WIPs/books/stories! (by meta-lore I mean, inspirations, how you arrived at your vision, what drove you to form it into what it is today, etc, things like that!)
This is such an interesting question! And what a fun term, meta-lore. I don’t have a meta wip but I do have a LORE Series!
The primary influence for it is D&D. I have loved making the campaign for my family, it has color coded magic too (although idk if my players have picked up on that).
The other inspiration may seem a little less 1:1 but after reading the His Dark Materials series, i kept thinking about my own series. I’ve made a post about it before, but the third book involved such a large scale, with angels and the afterlife and multiple worlds and the whole dust thing???
And it pulled it off so well, that it really inspired me for my own writing. That large scale stuff was feeling intimidating, and like it might not be feasible. I mean i called it the “Legend Of Reality’s End” Series, that promises big stuff. Was that smart tho? Could I deliver?
And now I think I can. It might take more rounds of editing, but Pullman showed it can be done.
Happy STS! Tell me about the first time you let someone read something you wrote. Were you excited? Nervous? Cool as a cucumber?
oh god uh. i was probably excited, mostly. i was maybe five or six and i wrote like a fantasy story about what happened when me + my friend were playing pretend in the woods behind her house + showed it to my mom. i was still a baby so i didn't have the Anxiety yet lol. in middle school, when i'd grown the part of my brain that thinks critically, i wrote a vampire epic and loaned it to a friend to read and i was excited then, too. i Wish i had that kind of confidence now lmao i'd be unstoppable, but i guess i do still get mostly excited sharing my writing-- only really nervous when a negative opinion from whoever i'm sharing it with could crush me like a bug . thank you for asking!
Thank you so much @writernopal for sending me this! I screenshot this instead of answering directly because I think you sent it to my main? Anyway, here's a selected few characters from Everdark!
