goal updates:

WRITE/REWRITE: got 2k towards my 10. prelim stuff that bloomed into all kinds of interesting things.

READ/REREAD: done! finished both my tbr pile book and one i'd saved to read later. the tbr book has a sequel, and that's so next on the list. 

STRETCH/CONNECT: signed up for a class at the institute, though it won't start until the end of feb. in other connection news...have obviously failed in keeping up with the tag :p

FUN: still working on this. yeah, yeah, i know.

#WriterRecharge Final Update

Oh man, February was a happening month! I'm really glad ahollowforest showed me Sara Biren's #WriterRecharge, where we use the month to power ahead with our writing goals in a NaNo-esque blaze of caffeine-induced glory!

To everyone I've connected with on here and on twitter, I just hope your month was equally as productive. Let's keep up the good momentum as March unfolds.

Now for the final countdown. Last week's goals:

Three crits (at least two of which need to be the ones I owe Laura and Louisa, severely overdue!)

Rewrite through chapter 12

Pop Lost Soles up on Scrib,get it tidied up to submit to Lightspeed

Feel proud of myself 

Stare longingly at FOD and think about finishing it someday. (I didn't get this one FINISHED, but I have started writing chapter 5 after like a month-and-a-half-long hiatus. So that's some progress! :D)

Didn't do so hot last week, mainly because I got steamrolled by life a good bit. BUT that doesn't mean I'm not still going to accomplish these goals. If there's anything #WriterRecharge has reminded me, it's that it's just a matter of sitting down and knocking stuff out as soon as I can, and to the best of my ability. So that's what I shall do.

Now, let's compare reality to my goals from the beginning of the month:

Get at least halfway through revisions on TNOUL (Almost made this goal--I got halfway through chapter 10, when my official halfway point would be chapter 12)

Get completely caught up on prompt fills (Yep! I'm still working on the last one, Forest of Darkness, but otherwise I'm gooooood.)

Finish up outstanding crits and transition more to Scrib critting (I haven't exactly finished up those non-scrib crits, but I have done a metric crapton of Scribophile critiques, which is still pretty darn productive.)

All in all, while I didn't hit 100% completion on my goals, I came further than I really expected, and that's a good feeling indeed. And I have to thank #WriterRecharge for that--I apparently need deadlines. This is a comforting thought, considering I plan on someday working very closely with them.

(Basically, this is me right now. Sans beer or randomly floating American flag.)

Writer Recharge Week #3

Man, this past week was crazy! I didn't get as much done in the way of crit and revisions as I had hoped, but I did FINALLY nail down my opening scenes, which is a weight off my chest--I've hated that first chapter since I first wrote it.

So this week I plan to:

Clean up what I've got so far, based on the crits I've gotten on Scrib

Finish re-writing chapter 7 and get it posted on Scrib

Do at least 1 crit per day (this is a lofty goal but I think if I push myself I can do it)

Push hard and get through chapter 10 on re-writes. It's only three chapters, but I don't know just yet how much I'll need to do in terms of re-writing versus tweaking and a healthy dose of copy-pasta.

So some of these goals are a bit of a stretch, so I won't be surprised if I don't meet them entirely, but the I'm using #WriterRecharge to give myself the kick in the pants I've needed since NaNo ended and revisions began.

Now, before my kids notice I'm being productive, I'm gonna go post this list on Sara Biren's blog and get to work! Let's see if I can knock out #1 tonight and not get distracted by Austin & Ally (DON'T JUDGE ME. I've got kids. They just happened to leave the tv on and THEIR SONGS ARE REALLY CATCHY OKAY.)
