Dragon scaled moss:
This bizarre musci gets its name from the way it clusters together creating a thick coating on their hosts that appears smooth yet tough not unlike dragon scales. Unlike most species of musci the dragon scaled moss is a semi-parasite. The symbiotic relationship between this musci and it's host is a strange one, like most musci it relys on it taking root onto other organisms for support and elevation to spread and acquire nutrients around it in return for a place to grow the moss provides a layer of protection with it’s scale like texture and thickness to it’s host. What sets this species apart from most musci is it’s ability to feed off it’s hosts directly, it’s roots thin penetrate the host and take a small minimal about of nutrients but the amount it takes has shown no real adverse affect of other plant life. When exposed to certain cytotoxins it’s luciferin will activate causing it to glow the amount released is dependent on the amount taken in, strangely the toxins it reacts to benefit it’s growth. This strange phenomenon in response to these toxins have caused this creature to form a symbiotic relationship with [species to be named later]. The moss takes roots in the pores of the creature’s skin where it sets loose it’s toxin and in exchange for feeding off it when released, the moss provides both a physical defense and a way to blind prey and predator by reacting to the amount of the toxin released.
