this year was pretty much the year of krisgeno! it had some ups and downs to it, but overall i had a whole lot of fun and met some amazing new friends due to it. i also tried my hand at writing long fic and it went.... okay

dont write out of order, you will forget where the fuck youre going with things and then youll cry and have a breakdown and pre-emptively post somethign even though you shouldnt have. also never write alone--you should always have someone who you can bounce ideas off of
2026 writing goals / what do you look forward to writing next year?
write more fics! l wanna beat that fic total of 39. but even if i dont, i just wanna write more, whether it be long fic or short. i look forward to digging into more of my sidquinn fic, the next installment is finished i just need it to be beta'd

New Things I Tried: I really wanted to give @yearoftheotpevent a go. It felt like publishing a fic a month on my ship might be a good challenge, and I liked a lot of the prompts. It was, however, a little difficult to keep the momentum going.
Otherwise, nothing really new as such.
Fic I Spent the Most Time On: An unpublished one with the working title of "argument". This is a (spoiler!) break-up fic, and the idea of it started in 2024. I did some additional things to try and fit a yotp prompt in, and this lead to some new directions for it, which I really liked.
It's important for me to get this one to work the way I want it to, and it has been pulled in a few directions. I think I intimidated myself a bit out of writing it at some point. It's in need of a lot of editing and more writing, but i do hope to finish it.
Fic I Spent the Least Time On: A silly smut roleplay fic - it's a wip I started a while ago and one day I just had an idea for a paragraph in it so I jotted it down.
Favorite Thing I Wrote: Probably Home is where the bed is. It's cute! And I love making Tansui have Big Feelings he won't voice.
My unpublished favorite is a piece of Tansui's youth - I'm letting my head canons run loose, and I'm excited to pick this up again.
Favorite Thing I Read: I have not been great at reading (either), and a year is a long time to recall, but here are a few I enjoyed: Horizon by @roguelioness, ninety years by @galadae and Under Me, Quite So New by @myreia
Something I Finished: Besides the 3 one-shots, I have one my yotp fic I finished yesterday! I hope to publish it soon.
Miscellaneous Highlights: This year was difficult for me writing. I had hoped it was better than last year, but in the end it was much, much worse. It's a highlight I wrote at all I think, if I am to give myself grace. I also had a brief and productive period in the fall, which I hope to return to. Picking up the Tansui backstory piece, I did a some days where I felt I wrote with abandon, and I want to hold on to that.
Writing Goals for 2026: I want to write more than half of the days in the year. 2025 was just under 20% and that is not enough to feel like I actually write. I want to finish more fics, and I want to maybe try my hand at a longer fic again, though those are not my strength.
Final Thoughts: As I said, last year was difficult. I had very little energy, a lot of this was work related, health related, life related. I want to be better at pushing through, but I also recognize that work burnout really impacted me in 2025. I feel wrung out and bled dry, and I hope my energy and focus will be better in this year. I frankly also struggled with the story in Endwalker, and it did not inspire me to write, along with other fandom nonsense (derogatory) and the fact that Congrats, I Chose A Rarepair! and I feel ffxiv is difficult to write for in terms of community and engagement. Not to blame engagement or fandom as the main reason for my lack of writing this year - that goes to burnout - but I do keep coming back to this. Compared to Dragon Age, I think ffxiv is really a low energy fandom when it comes to writing.
I am deeply appreciate of the support there is around, and the dear friends who are engaged and interested! And i will endeavor to do my own things, for my own enjoyment - more in 2026

well... i posted 3, but i've bounced around between, like, six different WIPs, depending on my mood 😂

i have absolutely no way of knowing that, but once again, i POSTED 56,543! which is pretty dang good for two oneshots and a twoshot!
Did you try anything new this year? (New fandom? New pairing? New language?)
not super new to me, but i posted my first ever omegaverse fic this year! it was met with very positive response, so i feel kind of enabled lmao... i'm so tempted to continue that 'verse, i'm just trying to decide exactly how. i have some ideas!
oh, i also wrote a fic from Arthur Fox's POV, which was a fun exercise! i don't really do outsider POVs that often, but Arthur is a really cool character and it was surprisingly easy to find his voice, i think.
Did you participate in any fests/events during the year?
nope. stuff like that tends to stress me out because i'm a very slow (moderately perfectionist) writer, plus i haven't really been super community-involved this year so i wasn't really aware of any events that were happening.
What do you look forward to writing next year?
i'm still chugging away at my childhood friends sequel, slowly but surely! and i think i might finish my oxford boys au next year, too. i also have a tendency to hyperfocus on totally random projects, which results in posting stuff that i initially had no intention of sharing so soon 😂 so we'll see what happens next year!

✨Writing/Art Roundup Tag 2025✨
2025 is finally coming to and end (thank god /j), and so I decided to make a writing/art roundup thing, to list what I accomplished and created this year :) I'll also be tagging my fanart as well.

✨FANFICS:
For the fics I worked on this year, I very early in February updated my Luck of the Sea fanfic, which is an Asher/Baabe focused Mermaid AU. This and another fic are on my radar to update again in the next year and focus more of my time on.
Also very early this past February, I had added a small Asher/Baabe story to my Stories of the Shaw Pack oneshot collection.
I wrote a little one-shot called Like a Little Mango of David and Angel, where they adopt a little kitten from the Dahlia Humane Society.
I also wrote two more chapters for my Shaw Pack and Solaire Clan Tattoo Parlor/Flower Shop/Gang AU story, which is called Daffodils & Tattoos.
And then early this past June, I managed to add another chapter to my Welcome to the Pack, Darlin' fic, which is a teen Shaw Pack fic focused on Darlin's first year coming into and interacting with the pack, after their parents move them from Washington down to California. This fic is first on my list to add another chapter.
And then, I have been writing the winter blurbs for my little winter event, where I had people spin a wheel with words to choose 1-2 words, and request a couple characters, for me to write them a little blurb. Those will be posted early/mid January 2026 and should be all posted by the time February 2026 comes around.
✨FANART:
I started 2025 with drawing fanart for @thesolaireslawyer for his "Ain't Sayin'' fanfic of Sam and Asher. While the Sam design is a bit funky to me, I also really like lighting I did in the image.
I also made fanart of Gavin in a pink butterfly corset.
Along with that I made chibi fanart of Huxley, Gavin and a white blob form of Freelancer make flower crowns and chilling outside.
I also made fanart of Gavin/Freelancer for Valentine's Day, which I think is really cute with all the flowers. (Freelancer is also a white blob shape of a person in this one too). (As you can see, Gavin has been a favorite of mine to draw this year XD)
And then we have my two fanart pieces I made for @taelonsamada's Between You Me and the Fence Post fanfic, which you can read on Ao3.
The first one is fanart of a scene where Milo is trying to get a Clydesdale horse to get used to having someone be around him.
And then I drew fanart of another scene of Darlin' and David out on a trail ride for cousin bonding time :) (cuz they're cousins in the fic).

January Writing Round-Up
In January, I wrote one short story and a chapter in my on-going WIP, both in the Song of Ice and Fire fandom. Shout-out to my cousin Erica for keeping me going. Having a writing coach is awesome!
I can't belong to winter - Balon Greyjoy dies when Theon is three-and-ten and home has never felt so far out of reach. (Theon Greyjoy, Ned Stark)
The Knife - The wounds on Lady Catelyn's hands turn sour, so Theon Greyjoy takes the assassin's knife to King's Landing instead. Theon's main skill has always been complicating other people's narratives. Updated through chapter 5 wherein Ned orders Theon to visit a bunch of brothels. (Theon Greyjoy, Ned Stark, ensemble)

A long fic, which I have a love-hate relationship now as it's my darling but seriously can it just write itself?

Getting involved in Fandom, previously I've watched a lot from the sidelines so it was nice to actually talk to other creatives and fans this time around, big shout out to @littleplasticrat for pulling me into it.

The threequel to Aqua Vitae. Set post-game, Octavia (Tav) and a broken Rugan embark on an investigation for the guild while studiously avoiding talking about their feelings.
The Red Right Hand by @pentuppen
Yvie St. John is a firey medical assistant that, thanks to the reckless and selfish behaviour of her mother, finds herself the target of some various dangerous loan sharks. A chance run in with our favourite Zhent simultaneously ruins her life and offers her an opportunity to get everything she's ever wanted.
Smut:
The Inkskin Pact by @littleplasticrat
A Rugan o' Clearlight story, a little exploration on one of his various tattoos and how it is very beneficial for a Zhent Tav.
A Snake in the Garden also by pentuppen
Rugan collects on a debt anyway that he can, only the token he's taken isn't traded for coin but for a night with an extremely talented tiefling courtesan.
The Perfect Mark by @luvwich
What if instead of encountering a heroic Tav, Rugan ran into a rather unscrupulous Dark Urge? One who doesn't fight her violent tendencies but instead finds a perfect opportunity for them in an unknowing Zhent.

Untitled One-Shot B! B is a bit different in character and trajectory but it's fun to write and its a bit of a collaboration so I hope to wrap it up soon.
