If you only pause to read 1 of my posts I hope it's this one. The surfer here is Andy McKay. Andy is one of those rad, unselfish guys that puts others first. He's the founder and director of @pismobeachopen an @wsl @wsl.qs 1000 he brought to @cityofpismo through his hard work and the help of sponsors and donors. Andy saw a need that he hoped to fill, not a business void or money making venture, but a need that young surfers had, especially those in California and the United States. For these athletes surf competition is very difficult. They need points to get to the big money events and points are always hard to come by, and even more difficult with so few events around the United States. Many of these athletes are young and chasing their dream. Maybe like you did, or you wish you did. They pay their own travel often globe hopping to score points. Most of the time they loose money, even if they win the event, because the travel cost is so great. Andy remembered what it was like to be young and chase that dream. He learned of the cost these #surfers face and the lack of #wsl events in the states so he went to work. He founded a non-profit @surfersoftomorrow so those that can't sponsor, but want to help can make tax deductible donations to help kids and young adults score the points that are necessary in the sport of #surfing.
