The Day our Earth Stood Still.
A good two years had passed since the first wave of Time Travelers crash landed in New Haven and approximately six months since another, smaller wave poured travelers all over the globe. New Haven's finest had been working hard in bringing as many of them back to their new forever home, as not even the fairies and witches together could work out the spell used to bring such a huge group of people from one time to another. Especially since time travel and changing the past are prohibited among covens and fairy realm alike.
But someone had messed with the balance regardless of the consequences. The first time the flow of time was disturbed, it had cracked reality as they knew it, that fragile construct of time and space threatening to break without anybody even knowing. New Haven never managed to find out who did it and why, so there were no precautions taken, no necessary actions taken - no back-up plans set in motion.
So when the idyllic peace of New Haven and its inhabitants was rudely disturbed on a previously calm Sunday night, nobody really knew what to do. The first sign that something was incredibly wrong was a boomingly loud groan that stretched over the entire town in the middle of the night. After that, rumbling coming from somewhere below the town - down in the deepest darkest depths that shook the ground beneath New Haven.
In some parts of the town, the ground shook so hard houses collapsed and people ran out on the streets where big craters opened up and ate everything in their way, severed cables caused fires in the streets and panic broke out among the inhabitants.
One thing everybody noticed when they cast their eyes to the heavens - likely to ask Mother Nature .....why she felt the need to punish them so, was a dim glow up in the night sky that stretched over a good half of it all the way down to the ground on one side even. A crack in the barrier. The Fair Folk and the Witches would feel a strain on their powers at the same time, the barrier's distress call to those who fed it most over the past decades as it scrambled to itself operating.
The police and firefighters were the first at the scene, trying to calm down bystanders and watch the opening for possible intruders. The Council was scattered across town, each member fighting their own battle at the time.
Oberyn Cadwalader, New Haven's former Fair Folk counselor had to watch a group of wild witches take down his future mate, Makhi Lincoln, but managed to save him just in time. At the same time, but on the other side of the town, Dunkan MacAllister frantically browsed his yard and surroundings to retrieve the fish that had escaped when one of his fish tanks broke due to the intensity of the earthquakes that hit them.
Colin MacLeod, who - at the time was responsible for the witches and the vampires was too late to help his brother save his beloved, but thankfully found his own unharmed. He stayed by his brother's side for most of the night and helped him escape the chaos that was New Haven. Oberyn had sworn not to leave New Haven and venture off to the Courts of the Fair Folk, because he knew he wouldn't be welcome there as offspring of a human and a Fairy, but with his love and home at risk, he packed his bags and planned to leave, but not solemnly to escape. A small group of Fair Folk set out together to head back to the Fairy Courts in the hopes of finding out more about what was happening to their home, but knowing their return was ....unlikely - at best. Richard Shift and his son also qualified, so - even though they would be leaving behind family, they joined them on this journey and Sett Oakhide returned with them to find the love he left behind in at Court.
A few well-adjusted time travelers that had been part of the very first wave two years ago had seemed to vanish into thin air just as another earthquake shook the town down to its core, Trenton, Vincent and Liam Powell seemingly nowhere to be found.
Nathan Gray, the Were Folk councilman would suffer the greatest loss that night it seemed, identified by a group of higher-ranked witches, he was kidnapped and tortured, as was his mate, Patrick Ruthledge, who... unfortunately didn't make it to sunrise and left behind a mate, little brother and unborn child. Together with a dead shark, Nathan was dropped off naked, unconscious and bloody in the morning, right in front of the police station with a message written in his deceased mate's blood in beautiful and yet sinister letters on the pale skin of his back.
We'll be back for more, Sweeties. xoxo. ;)
With the town in shambles, their protection seemingly compromised and half their council suddenly eradicated, New Haven's inhabitants would soon be facing difficult decisions. But for now, the police set up constant 24/7 guards at the opening in their protective wall, relying on volunteers to help them out while the remaining members of the police force and the firefighters try and restore order in town. Council had open ranks that needed filled in this time of confusion and fear, everybody would just ... have to try even harder at working together until they were safe once again.
Was this the only opening? Had they already been infiltrated? Why did the barrier crack? And who sent more time travelers their way? And ... why?
We are now officially open again! In this little ode to the loss of our co-creator Fives, I've taken the burden (it's an honor tbh) to send his muses off on their respectful (or cruel) ways while helping pave the way for a new era for NH. Silas and Dante still live in NH, but refuse to partake in any shenanigans, better not approach them if you spot them. We've practically jumped 2 years ahead now from when we originally started with the first time travelers arriving in NH. So, time your new threads accordingly please. <3 Have fun, invite your friends and stay tuned for the first interactive event coming up soon! Make sure to follow each other, put your info on your blogs (listen, do it pls) and love each other as thoroughly as you can.
