I haven't done an Official Glo-Up Post in a long long time so here we have it: prototype and final mermaids side by side. The prototypes look much lighter skinned but I think that was mostly due to the nature of alcohol markers fading terribly, they were more 'realitically' drawn as well, just normal mermaids with normal fish features at first. I recall being very dissatisfied with how they all looked very....same-y.

In the final design I punched the fish features way up and went in a much more cartoon direction. I love my grumpy mermaid gals!

The Aye Aye. Some cultures see him as an omen of death, so I made him a fisherman of souls. He sets out a line on his single long finger, waiting patiently for a bite, willing souls ready to leave the waters of life and instead become a delicious chowder. He keeps them safe in his fishing vest, next his own breathing lungfish.

One of my favorite touches from this time around is the bandaid brad I got to attach his arm :3

Working on a cat girl (famous?) paper doll. I'm stoked, she looks so damn cute and pays homage to the very first anime I ever watched in Japanese!
