Me: tries to be reasonable about the fact that despite all things hinting that ST Link is related to WW Link (I could make a list) there is a chance they’re not related.
Also my brain, while I’m playing WW HD: LOOK. Omg they also have the same shade of green and that makes them the only two Link with green eyes in the whole franchise now we’re going to hyperfocus on that for the next three days.

I dunno about Polynesian-coded, but BotW’s Lurelin Village - which bears a striking resemblance to Outset Island - is a village comprised entirely of brown people! The good news is that The Wind Waker Randomizer already has a built-in feature that lets you customize not only the character model you’re using, but also individual colors on those models:
So brown WW Link is very, very real. Mind you, right now this is only a function of the randomizer (which is wickedly fun, and I recommend anyone capable of emulating GameCube games go check it out, for playable Tetra if no other reason), but making a complete texture pack for the vanilla game is very doable, and something I may look into in the future.
