Interrupted Thoughts | Alex & OPEN
After a particularly difficult DADA lesson, Alex was more than looking forward to the next Quidditch practice that evening. Nothing could quite compare with the wind in his hair and his broom between his legs. Flying always made his life seem a bit more effortless, and it was one of the few things that he didn’t have to work as hard in order to excel. Lost in his thoughts, he was surprised when a voice nearby called out his name. Turning, he gave the speaker his attention, albeit with a bit of snark at having his thoughts interrupted. “Yes, what can I do for you?”
He couldn’t for the life of him understand the great draw this school had. Perhaps the famous feet that once echoed down these stone halls held some sort of magic he wasn’t aware of. Whatever the reason he truly couldn’t be bothered, potions hadn’t gone as he’d wished it had and his nerves were wearing thin. Lloyd shuffled himself into the library. Perhaps the quiet would do him some good.
For a few moments he’d gotten exactly what he’d come for. It was quiet, calm and .... wait .... A soft knocking repeated itself. Was that knocking or was it humming? Lloyd lifted his head, scanning the room rather quickly before his attention turned to where the noise had been coming from.
“Is that absolutely necessary?” He asked in a hushed tone, not willing to lose his table for someone else’s incompetence. This was the library after all.
Terrence & OPEN
When Terrence truly needed to study he headed to the library. He found himself much too distracted in the Ravenclaw common room even though generally there was a lot of people studying there as well. The library was just quieter and books didn’t talk, neither did anyone else unless they wanted to hear from the librarian. He work space was both perfectly placed and a complete mess to anyone but Terrence. There were various books opened to different pages scattered around his parchment, which was placed in the center. His ink was off to the side to avoid any accidental spills and an iPod held down his work. He occasionally got shit for the muggle device, but when he could have music through his headphones and ignore those people he didn’t really care. In the hour he spent working a few people came and went at the table, but he didn’t really notice until someone tapped him on the shoulder. He jumped slightly, but was just glad that he hadn’t ruined his work. He put his quill, down, took out one earphone, and turned to see who it was.
Nadya sat beneath a high window somewhere on the seventh floor, a corridor or two away from the Ghoul Studies room. She never waited for that particular class just outside the door-- Nadya learned quickly that Professor Kovac was unusual, even by Hogwarts’ standards, and worse still, he tended to be quite chatty. So she waited a bit closer to the Divination Tower, a thoughtful decision as she carefully shuffled the cards in her tarot deck. She felt eyes on her for a long time, and the cards between her fingers seemed to shuffle with a purpose, which Nadya herself wasn’t supplying. “Watching so intently does affect my reading you know,” she offered by way of introduction.
Azumi & OPEN
Being assigned prefect duties at a school she didn’t know was both flattering and unnerving; because while she had quickly figured out how to get to her classrooms, she didn’t know the whole building, and she couldn’t just ignore the first year, quite obviously attracted by her badge, who was staring up at her with wide eyes. She wasn’t taking Astronomy - she wasn’t even sure if she’d seen the teacher around.
She rested a hand on the student’s shoulder to calm both the child and herself, and then she craned her head to see if anyone was around who might be able to help her - anyone her age would do. When she spotted someone, she ushered the First Year with her, walking towards the person with quick steps.
“Hey you, do you know how to get to classroom 7A?”
“Oh, um ow. That’s certainly... something.” Ruth remarked, looking curiously at... well she wasn’t sure what it was actually, only that it was strange. Hogwarts never ran out of surprises it seemed. She turned to the person next to her. “What’s it for?”
Lifting her chin off her arms from where she had draped herself across the Gryffindor table, Rowan eyed the rest of the Great Hall with distaste. Having to wake up early on Tuesdays and Thursdays for her Muggle Studies NEWT class left her in a foul mood. “Why does everyone feel the need to talk so much?” she grumbled.
