The Irishman was drunk and so the question made him laugh. Of course, he loved her. She was an important friend and someone he cared about, which is why the question was so funny to him because it was silly. "What has you askin' that?" His words were clipped and faster than when sober, the alcohol always making his thick accent come out. "I love all my friends," he then added, giving her a gentle shove. He really did love them all, his heart big and soft for those he cared about. Those people were what got him through the day, what had helped him through the last five years, and that's why they mattered so much.
