He looks up from wiping his hands clean of the grease, well as much as he could anyway, hazel gaze shifting from his own hands to the other who seemed to walk in and make themselves comfortable. Expression furrowed slightly, a slight difference in his usual default expression of a glare. "What do you mean you've decided to remain here?" Deckard questions, hands moving to then rest atop the work bench as he leans forward with no position holding him up. "I didn't realize there was a choice when it came to a job." Rough voice mixed with a sarcastic tone and one that showed his displeasure at Criston's words. "You don't get to hang back and read, not unless you're working the computers but we both know that isn't your job." A brief pause as he shifts to stand up straight, arms moving now to cross over his chest. "And I don't think Tej is teaching you either."

He doesn’t move, dark eyes remaining on the angry figure as the cool metal of the blade meets the flesh of his neck. Deckard even moves it slightly for an easier placement because he knew she wouldn’t follow through. She wanted to hear what he had to say and how could he deny her that? He couldn’t. So, he remains unmoving and unchanging as eyes locked with her’s with a stern expression. “Wouldn’t you have done the same in my position?” He questions. Both knew she would, she was currently in the process of attempting that herself. But she didn’t know the whole story, he came to Deckard later. It shocked the elder Shaw when he appeared at his door, like looking at a ghost. He had been dead, that’s what he thought. And he was wrong. “But he’s not dead.” He finally says in a softer tone as he breathes slowly out. “I was just as surprised as you are now.” A pause. “Then again, I’m sure you don’t believe me.”

“And what makes you think that?” Deckard questioned as he looked over at the other, an unfamiliar figure who seemed to have her own opinion on just what he was doing. Sure it was messy, but he never exactly cared anymore on if he drew too much attention to himself. He’d been slinking in the shadows long enough that now? Well, he didn’t care if he was caught or not because he was rather fond of finding a way out on his own. Hell, Mr. Nobody already handled his freedom. He wasn’t entirely wanted by much of anyone anymore Well, aside from Eteon. They wanted his head for what they had done in ruining their plans with the virus. Not that he cared, he only wanted to shut them down and it seemed it drew interest from other parties. “Because they seem rather unable to provide an opinion.” A hand motioned to the mixture of dead and unconscious men around them.

“ i’m going with you.” (Owen @ Deckard)

“Like hell you are.” Deckard replied as he tossed a glance, well more of a glare behind shades, at this younger brother. “You’ve gotten yourself in enough trouble and I’m sick of cleanin’ up after you.” He stops himself almost immediately following his words, remembering to take a deep breath. Yelling wasn’t always the best tactic when it came to reasoning with any of his siblings, but they knew how to try his patience. So, Deckard collects himself as he lets out a sigh. “Why do you want to come along, Owen? Why this time?” His head tilts to the side as brows furrow, half covered the the sunglasses the adorned his face. “What happened to you layin’ low after breakin’ you out of prison. At mom’s words of course.” He points at the other as if to emphasize his argument. Not that the elder Shaw thought it would accomplish anything but he had to try. That was one thing they all had in common between them, how stubborn they all were.

A glare was shot in the direction of the nurse he’d already seen plenty of times beforehand. She knew well by now that he wasn’t an option. Wincing as he finished gathering himself and his things together. Arm was moving slowly as it went through the sleeve of his shirt. Sometimes he forgot how much pain he could withstand until it became too much. This was one of those times after being dragged out of a car, shot at, and beaten. He’d only rest for a couple days, maybe. “No, I’ll handle this like I usually do.” Deckard finally managed to counter as he started to make his way towards the door. “I have things to do, I can take care of myself.”

Preparation was something Deckard was used to, having done it for years before he even stepped foot outside his residence. His brow furrowed as he looked up from his work at the other. She had no training in what was needed to face Eteon, all she had was the knowledge they were after. He wished life was easier when he was going after Eteon on his own. “What do you expect to do?” Deckard asked, pausing in his actions. “They are after you.”

That might possibly have been the weirdest thing  he’d heard her say. And that thought was clearly evident on his face as brows furrowed in confusion with a hint of disgust. “Don’t even think about it.” He quickly replied back as Deckard took a step away from the smaller female. “I doubt you’d even get close enough to even try.” Probably not something he should have added but he did anyway. It wasn’t exactly a challenge but something he felt was fact. Self defense was his specialty and that meant he knew how to keep someone at arms length, away from his face.

@historypowered​ asked: It happened so fast. One minute, Evie was shooting at the men that were after them, and the next, she spotted one coming at Deckard from the left. Knowing that she wasn't that sharp of a shooter to try and hit him from where she stood, she instead leaped forward and covered his side with her body. A split second later, she felt a slight impact on her shoulder, quickly followed by a searing hot pain that began to spread.

He didn’t see the person coming from the left. Something he’d be cursing at himself for later once they were out of this. But what he did see was Evie run and cover his side before hearing the sound of gun go off. Quickly he turned to grab her in his arms, bringing her to what safety he could find. She’d been hit in the shoulder for him. A curse escaped his lips as eyes looked over the wound. It was one thing to shoot him but her? She was innocent in all this, just a victim trying to live a life and somehow been dragged into all this just because she had information they wanted. 

Hands moved effortlessly to reload his firearm as his eyes formed a glare in the direction of the Eteon mercenaries still attempting to come for them. “Stay here.” A low voice ordered for her own good and within moments he was gone. Shots were fired and aimed at the mercenaries with ease, moving from one to another and engaging in hand to hand combat when necessary. Deckard was on another level, something in him set off at the sight of Evie being hurt for his own protection. They would pay and pay they did. After several minutes of combat, a silence fell over the area and he was left standing in the center of it all. Bodies were around him as he stood panting in the center with a glare that could kill.
