Lidia should have known this was a terrible idea from the very beginning. Long ago she had made a vow to never get into something serious with someone again but when Adria had appeared in her life, she’d been unable to resist the avalanche of events that had led them to here. It was surreal to think about their lives and the way they had become intertwined. She was a mob boss with people who relied on her for safety and protection. She lived on the wrong side of the law with blood on her hands. But ultimately, she was untouchable. And Adria was a CEO of a huge company and fuck was that alluring to Lidia. She’d seen the power in her stride and in her place at the head of the company and she’d never considered herself to be part of a couple that could lead an Empire but fuck did she feel like they could sometimes. But also Adria wasn’t part of her world. Lidia could be seedy and dark as well as alluring and supportive. She could fall for Adria but there would always be the darker side of her that made different decisions.
And maybe her words had been harsh because she’d tried to warn Adria from the beginning that she could make rash consequences with decisions. Sometimes she just forgot Adria wasn’t from her world and it made her feel further from her than ever. “I told you that I make selfish decisions. That’s why I pass it off as your fault when I go through with those decisions because I feel like I’ve warned you.” She blew out a harsh breath and leant back in her chair. How much longer could they keep this up before their worlds collided in a bad way? What if someone hurt Adria? Maybe it was better if Lidia pushed her away....for her own benefit. “You know I could promise to look after you and I would until my last breath but you can’t trust me to be able to promise that because I can’t account for everyone’s actions.” She knew she should probably reach for the other. Try and comfort her perhaps. “I want to be with you. You can trust how I feel about you but to trust I’ll always do the right thing and won’t let my job come first...that would be foolish and....you need to be able to comprehend that. Or I can’t keep you at my side.” @leftlipstick
