Emerson: Really?
guywithaneyepun replied to your post:[pm] I'm really hoping you just dozed off in some awkward corner instead of being missing, Ken.
[pm] Mags just told me you were messaging. I hope it was a good doze. You okay?
[pm] No better way to sleep than be beaten over the head with a metal bat.
Relatively.
[pm] I'm really hoping you just dozed off in some awkward corner instead of being missing, Ken.
[pm] Close.
Shadows On Your Soul|| Kennedy and Xander
She'd almost forgotten about it.
Almost.
The destroyed headstone sitting in the cemetery, crumpled pieces of it beside the leftover ashes of a long dusted demon. When she thought about it her hands felt raw again, even though her knuckles had almost fully healed. The doctor suggested keeping them wrapped for the next few days, especially if she was going to keep patrolling. Which she was, of course. Nothing, next to death and incapacitation, would keep her from doing her duty.
She wasn't sure if visiting Erin every night was healthy for her or not, but she did it anyways. Ever since Naomi left there hadn't been a night where she'd not visited-- except last night. And she didn't really know why. Maybe she just hadn't been thinking about it, or maybe she had been subconsciously avoiding it, but either way, the one night she hadn't gone, someone else had, and they'd seen the destroyed pieces of the tombstone that she'd so carelessly and heartlessly left behind. Before leaving she should have at least fixed it up a little. But no, after beating the vamp to a bloody pulp, she'd just stood up and walked away. Hadn't even dusted the poor thing, he must've just combusted when the sun had come up an hour or so later. He definitely wasn't getting up anytime soon after she'd beaten him.
It didn't change that she'd just left her friend's grave completely desecrated. How could she have done something like that? Disrespected Erin like that? She'd never gotten a chance to tell her how much she meant to her, and visiting her every day wasn't going to make up for it. But still, she felt compelled to. And then that had happened. But as much as she was beating herself up for it, Xander didn't seem angry. He was the only one that knew at this point. The only other people Kennedy could pinpoint who were close enough to Erin were Penelope and Naomi, and Naomi was god knew where, and Penelope had other people to worry about. Not that that meant either of them cared any less for Erin than Kennedy or Xander. They just...had other priorities, too.
The day was colder than others, and although Kennedy wasn't much a believer in karma and zen, she somehow felt like the dreary weather was a reflection of her inner thoughts today. Stuffing her wrapped hands in her pockets, she tucked her chin down, and made a beeline for Highgate cemetery. It wasn't too far from Slayer HQ, but it also was a bit of a walk. She didn't mind walking, usually. It left her time with her own thoughts, let her clear her head-- which was a good thing before patrolling. Today her thoughts just seemed to want to consume her with guilt, and she had to keep reminding herself that it was okay. These things happened, and even though it was technically her fault, it wasn't at the same time. Someone important to her was gone, but she had to remember, now more than ever, that she wasn't alone in her grieving.
It was a hard concept to grasp, even as she came around the corner and saw Xander leaning against a lamp post, cell phone in hand. How long had he been waiting? A quick glance at the watch on her wrist told her not long. He must've been texting someone or something.
It was strange seeing him as just Xander. Usually he came attached to Buffy's hip, or Willow's hip, or behind Giles. She wondered if he felt as strange seeing her by herself. She usually came attached to Williow's hip, and they hadn't really seen or talked much since Willow sort of...removed herself from the broader picture. Standing up a bit straighter, she waved at him as she approached. "Hey," she said in greeting, trying to keep the dreariness out of her voice. "So, uh...you wanna go in? It's pretty chilly out today."
guywithaneyepun replied to your post:[pm] So, um, hi Ken. How ya doing?
[pm] I’m alright, yeah. Look, there was something I wanted to ask you about, If you have the time.
[pm] Oh, uh, sure. What's up?
[pm] So, um, hi Ken. How ya doing?
[pm] Oh, uh, hey Xander. I'm fine. And you?
guywithaneyepun replied to your post: They had chocolate pudding today! Finally.
And you’re awake to enjoy it!
It might sound crazy, but I'm actually awake more hours of the day than asleep now.
guywithaneyepun replied to your post: Do you watch much TV?
Which Doctor?
The Fourth, of course. And it may or may not have something to do with Sarah Jane Smith, but I mean c'mon-- who doesn't have a crush on her?
