I wish I can talk to someone about my intense hatred of Xion...

Because I'm getting tired of seeing her on my dash and it's not even like she's there by herself, she's in a group image and I don't expect people to tag every single character so I understand that...but GOD WHY!? I HATE THIS STUPID EXCUSE OF A CHARACTER! HATE THE THING WITH A PASSION!

Beat KH: DDD before school started! Yes! (Part 4 of my KH: DDD play)

WARNING: Will have spoilers for any/all Kingdom Hearts games if I mention them! Proceed at your own risk!

  WARNING: Lots of yaoi comments in this one. I know in the previous ones I gave like doses, and if not it’s in its own little labeled section, but this one…it’s a little hard to not comment on these things/It’s just kinda hard to go without the gay angle at the end of the game...

It took 27 hours and 25 minutes but I beat Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. What a ride!

So after that stupid boss I finally get to go to:

The World That Never Was:

So thanks to the thingy in the touch screen that tells you what’s going on in the world, both Riku and Sora have overpowered dream eaters so I’ve actually died more than once, more with Sora though…leveled up two levels only to die. Great…so Sora goes to grind in other worlds while Riku I just ended up being more cautious and he was fine. 

And god, Riku’s concern for Sora is so bloody cute. At the very least touching from the non-gay angle. So when Riku had to fight this…Anti Black Coat thing I was like “…dude, it would be so awesome if that was Kairi.” There’s absolutely nothing behind that thought aside from her unexcused absence from this game but that would just be cool. No, I'm not letting this Kairi thing go. She should've been in this game!

So right after that fight I was thrown into a fight against Ansem!

How my fight against Ansem(last form) went:

“Cheap…oh crap, I’m already on magenta, I better hurry up…die already…OH SHIT I’M ON BONUS TIME?! GAH! HE HAS 1 BAR AND SOMETHING LEFT! *spams X and A button * OH CRAP I CAN HEAR MYSELF BEING NEAR DEATH WHERE IS CURE?! BUT HE’S ALMOST DEAD AND I’M RUNNING OUT OF TIME! WHAT DO I DO?! T_T

I seriously never felt so relieved to hear that sound at the end of a battle…Both of my Curaga were in the midst of charging I believe but Riku was clearly dying and I’m hearing 2 of these alarms at the same time. I don’t know how many seconds I had left but YESH!

After I beat Ansem:

Riku naturally fell asleep in like 4 seconds so I just ran to the save spot but just couldn’t get there. So I spent the entire time with Sora grinding and treasure hunting until his bonus time ran out so when it did, I continued on with Riku and what happens? HE FALLS ASLEEP! I feel like this would happen to anyone in the game (unless you’re carrying those items to fill your gauge) because Riku had to fight 3 big battles in a row and would most likely run out of time. Or maybe it’s just me completely but yeah! What?! So back to training with Sora I guess.

(repeat the above)

Okay I guess the game is telling me to hurry up with Sora already.

So I told my friend what happened and he told me that it’s probably because I’m supposed to beat Sora’s side first. That’s what he did and he didn’t have Riku fall asleep just by walking into the next area plus he didn’t have to worry about the drop thing when fighting Ansem. Why did I have to be better at Riku’s side of the story?!

Thus, when I noticed that the enemies aren’t overpowered in TWTNW, I took Sora back and used some items to refill his gauge. Better take advantage of that before they get overpowered enemies again (and I just wanted to beat the game already).

So XionXarmy(Suxe) is here…goddammit. She-he-it-whatever is gonna haunt me for the rest of my Kingdom Hearts journey I swear. I think the more I hate her the more she comes back…

My heart was getting hit hard with Sora’s side of the story though. I mean…before Xarmy ruined the scene with Naminé, I was all “It’s Naminé! Oh my gosh, Sora’s holding her hand!” (<-only het pairing I like with Sora) and “Oh gosh! He’s finally going to say thanks!-goddammit you stupid mary-sue…” What teases! They couldn’t make him at least say thanks?! 

On the side note: Namine is possibly the only developed female character in the early games. Given she only had one game to really expand on her and even then it wasn't much. But in terms of the girls in KH that isn't Aqua(who brought something completely new to the table), she is possibly the closest to being developed in some way. 

So after Sora ventures more:

AHDSDFJAH ROXAS! I love you Jesse McCartney Roxas!

Oh my god…You might as well kiss him in this scene! Oh my Roxas/Sora feels…that was beautiful…

I’ve always wanted Sora to tell him that canon-ly. Even in the non-yaoi way, I really did wanted Sora to one day just let Roxas know that. It was really touching.

And then…then! Then! When Sora falls into darkness I’m not sure what I was feeling other than complete worry and such but then the little light comes and I’m just “VEN!? VEN IS THAT YOU?!” And it was!(I believe) It was just so…wonderful!

So yeah, I can finally continue on with Riku now that Sora is MIA. And my god! Mickey is pretty powerful! I know they didn’t really make Mickey come off as weak or anything but for someone with powerful magic he really doesn’t do much in the series and when he does it’s like "You can do that?!” So after Xehanort does his villain speech and then I go into Sora-worry-mode again, Lea comes in to save the day! And what’s this? That’s where Isa went?! Okay, I was kinda surprised but I don’t really care about Saix/Isa anyway lol. I honestly forgot that he was ‘missing’ for most of the game.

So aside from the scene, my Axel(Lea)/Sora gauge is being filled as well<3 Still kinda sad he didn’t seem to give Sora much attention in this game save for the epic rescue ;_;

But yeah, I’m kinda pumped. This battle sounds EFFING epic and I look forward to the 7 vs. 13!

Yen Sid’s Tower:

So after they’re in the safety of Yen Sid’s tower, Riku wants to save his best friend and so once more dives in to wake up his sleep beauty(I’m sorry, have you SEEN Sora’s eyelashes? He is essentially the most beautiful man in Kingdom Hearts.).

And oh god, the whole ending and everything. I mean like since the moment of the series of scenes that Sora got in TWTNW up until the actual end. It was just so filled with emotions but it hit me very hard when I was able to continue as Riku again so I guess it more so the scenes starting from Riku after the Memory Skyscraper that made it just so goddamn SAD for me to see Riku go through this! Don’t get me wrong, it was very touching to see him care about Sora so much but it was still very sad! It’s stated that Sora is an “important person” to Riku and just seeing him lose Sora multiple times, right out of his grasps too, and in more than one sense, is almost depressing! If they did it anymore or did it in a much ‘bigger’ and dramatic way I would’ve been crying.

So after losing Sora, AGAIN, after the amour fight, Riku is transported to Destiny Islands...I have to withhold my rage just by seeing the he-she-it-thing AGAIN...

I have to say this: RIKU/VENTUS ISN’T AS CRACK AS IT WAS BEFORE! Yeah I wished they had more dialogue together but who knows? They may converse when they fight alongside each other in the final fight between good and evil! (or before and after the battle, whichever).

Also wasn’t much but Riku got a chance to see Roxas again. Didn’t do much to my Riku/Roxas gauge but something was put in at least.

Soon he met up with Ansem the Wise who revealed that Sora has awoken. I didn’t know I could be so happy to hear that for the sake of RIKU rather than for myself! I mean I won’t deny how much I love Sora and when I want him alright, it’s usually because he’s one of my favorite characters. But at this point in the game, just this one…I really just wanted him to be alright for Riku. I didn’t realize it until now but looking back, I guess I just didn’t want Riku lose Sora anymore.

So Riku wakes up and I was almost ready for happy tears if Riku just goddamn hugged Sora back! Here Sora is in joy that his best friend is alright and I would’ve spilled happy tears if Riku hugged him back and had a more emotional response. But hey, this is Riku. Lots of emotions on the inside but not outside so I let it slide.

Side note: I thought it was kinda creepy, but funny after I realized it, the way Axel I mean Lea watched Riku sleep. 

After that whole emotional ordeal, Yen Sid names Riku the Keyblade Master. At first I was just kinda…”Really? I mean…but Sora saved like…a bazillion worlds and stuff! He went through so much!” But at present time…I can understand the decision a bit more. Riku has been though a lot too. I guess I just favor Sora because it’s Sora but hey, if everyone’s okay with it, I’m all for it. Congrats, Riku!~

And this is where it was partially killed for me:

Back when Xehanort was revealing his evil plan to Mickey and Riku, Mickey counted his 7 lights: himself, Riku, Sora, Terra, Aqua, and Ventus. Which was 6 and he paused for the 7th as they didn’t have one but I was going: “Uh…Kairi! Kairi has a frickin Keyblade!” I may have to look it up later to why Kairi doesn’t count as a Keyblade wielder but Axel-I-mean-Lea does. And even that part doesn’t make sense! If it was so easy to train to become one, why can’t Kairi?

I know I keep bagging about Kairi’s absence but it just makes no sense to me! And again, I’m not even a Kairi fan! But just the equation of her being Sora and Riku’s best friend AND can wield Keyblade that makes me wonder why she’s not included in this game! Unless, again, she’s part of a whole separate big important thing but I just doubt it.

So ignoring that thing…it’s not that I don’t like Axel/Lea but I felt that was very fanservice-y. Similar to how Lea and Isa were handled in BBS, I don’t understand why it had to be Axel-I-mean-Lea.

End:

Despite the problem I had with the beginning’s story telling, and other things I’ve mentioned, I did enjoy this game a lot. There were a ton of plot-convenient situations and as much as I did enjoy the story I don't think I enjoyed how it was told still. Oh, and the opening was such as a tease!

I thought the final 7 vs. 13 fight was going to happen in this game! So I wasn’t ready for an ending! I was ready to go kick some ass after Sora woke up! But now that the final fight will be in another game, I’m actually kinda excited. Riku, Sora, Mickey, Terra, Aqua, Ventus, and I guess Axel-I-mean-Lea?...in a final fight! Since I do care about the majority of the 7 here,(the only one I could care less about would be Terra I guess) I am pretty pumped if I get to play them all. Hell, I’m good just watching the 7 fight!

   Things I’m still confused on:

-I have an idea why but I’m not positive: why does Sora keep switching between his KHII outfit and his dream outfit in TWTNW?

-So was Sora in the dream world I think? Was Riku was within Sora within the dream world? I’m not 100% sure.

I should go wiki some things now.

   WTF stuff:

-THEY NEVER MENTION RIKU’S HAIRCUT! You have to mention that bloody hair! How do you NOT?! How the hell do you go through the whole game ignoring a big change?!

-VANITAS ONLY APPEARED ONCE?! For like…FIVE SECONDS?! I WANTED MORE VANITAS! He didn’t even have his own line! How dare they?! Vanitas deserves his own line! I want to hear that sexy voice! 

Next goal:

-Secret ending time. Honestly…I’m shocked at how easy it is to get considering I ended the game on standard with 6 trophies and I needed 7. My friends only needs 5 but I’m not sure if it’s easier/harder to get some things.

After the secret ending I may go after the ultima weapon and then extra boss(es?). The secret ending better be better than Re:coded’s…

-Stop calling Lea “Axel.” I swear I keep doing that in both talking and typing.

Yaoi-specific:

I’m not gonna lie. If I didn’t like Riku/Sora before this game, I would have been converted by the end of this game(if not, probably earliest when Riku was trying to wake Sora up from the sphere). Especially with how close they were to each other’s faces when Sora threw an arm around him, people talked, and Riku turned his head towards Sora. My god…I have never seen 2 males characters so close before and not kiss! Riku/Sora has also been bumped up in terms of my pairings. I still love whoring Sora with everyone (that’s male) but I really can appreciate Riku and Sora together more now.
