Years before the Nation of Natlan came to be, life was a fight for survival for those who walked the land, with the war between dragons and people life was difficult. You were no means a warrior, yet found yourself standing on the rubble of what was once your house, face to face with a dragon, the ones who wreak havoc on the people, and now have destroyed all you had. Stories of those who lived to tell the tale all declare that the dragons are lethal and cause of most deaths in this land. Your mind and body is consumed by terror as you expect extruding pain before it all goes dark, clutching your shiny pendant wrapped around your neck, to your utter shock, when the maw of the beast picks you up, rather than being devoured like expected you’re instead lifted up into the air as the dragon flies away with you hostage between its jaws.
Once the dragon lands outside a cavern it doesn’t release you yet, the dragon walks within the cave. The space is filled with gems galore and mora as the shiny items surrounds a miniature geo construct like a moat. The dragon drops you onto the construct as it walks away and lays down nearby. Your pendant might have let you live another day, moreover, you have now joined the dragons collection.
The days blend together as you’re left sitting there in the center of the treasure. The many failed negotiations over ‘dinner’(raw meat that with enough whining the dragon gave you a fire pit to allow you to cook) to the clumsy escape attempts, you’ve lost track of how long you've been here. Even when the dragon leaves it blocks the caves entrance with geo energy leaving you trapped behind rock. Most days boredom rots your brain as you’re left stuck on the construct with little to no movement, whenever the dragon leaves you take the chance to walk around the cavern to stretch your legs, however it doesn't help much. Somedays the dragon returns with wounds from arrows and swords, yet never limping as no warrior was able to inflict enough damage onto the dragon before death. The longer the days become night and vice versa the more hope is lost within your soul. No one will save you, and you surely won't outlive the dragon, the only escape is when you pass on.
The day is like no other, wake up, eat, watch the dragon leave, walk around in despair until the dragon arrives again. The only thing that differentiates today from every other is the sounds of armored shoes clanking as a thud from a heavy weapon hits the geo blockade at the exit. Fear of what's behind the wall implants itself into your brain as you reach out and grab the nearest object, a golden flask, to defend yourself.
Once the wall comes down on the other side isn't another dragon, it's a man. With thick red hair adorning a braided bang in the front, with red markings up the skin of his bare torso. Armor on his shoulders that covers his neck and runs down his arms as well as armoured boots, with pants layered with fabric wrapped around his waist, longer in the back underneath a belt. The man is shocked to see a living being behind the wall, just as you are too. Relief fills your lungs with fresh air before the remembrance of the dragon makes your breath hitch. Falling to your knees as the man rushes over to check on your wellbeing, the first few words that seeps from your lips is a question “the dragon? What about the dragon?!” you anxiously look towards the exit expecting the beast to appear and end the man's life. “The dragon? That Geo one?” he asks, yet without the air due to hyperventilating to reply you muster a nod. “the geo dragon that's been reported by troops in the area has been slayed by my sword, so please do not fret, you’re safe now.” Feeling at ease after so long makes you exhausted as you sigh and slow your breathing as you go limp. The man catches you as he slides an arm under your knees with the other hand resting on your back as he lifts you with ease.
You awaken to the smell of herbs, within an unfamiliar location, sitting yourself up with wobbly arms before someone unknown walks over and helps you. Now fully awake as you look around your surroundings you can tell you’re in a medical tent. Who you assume is the medic fixes your hair as they concentrate on their thoughts, after a short moment of silence is ended with their voice, "Everything seems fine, you’re lucky Xbalanque decided to check out the dragon's nest, if he didn't you would have certainly dehydrated.” as they speak with a smile you come to realise who saved you, the same immortal who has been leading the war. As you ponder you can hear a zipper open as he enters the tent. The medic finishes checking up on you before walking towards the man. “They are perfectly healthy, albeit in need of more movement with how cramped their legs are. They should be good to go.” The man replies with a quick thanks as he walks towards you before sitting down nearby. “I know who you are.. Xbalanque.. Thank you.” you muster the embarrassed reply as he lets out a gentle chuckle, “its alright, its my job to protect and fight for the people.” he replies before giving you a sly smirk “although I never got your name?” he asks with a cheeky tone. You tell him your name as you fiddle with the very same pendant that got you taken hostage in the first place, seeing you nervous he places a hand on your shoulder to reassure you of your safety, you're surprised a man like him who is leading a war can still be gentle. Feeling nervous about what happens next, you decide it's better to inquire him, “may I ask Xbalanque, once im recovered, then what? Do I just go back to normal? Do I work for you to repay you for your troubles? Do you want something in return?” as the words pour out of your mouth while you take the pendant off and hand it out to him, he tightens his grip on your shoulder the slightest to ground you, phishing your hand back to your chest gently, before he answers with “you don't need to repay me for anything. However there is no guarantee you’ll go back to a normal life, but i can promise if you stay you can try to.” He smiles at you with a soft look, confusion on your face ‘he wants you to stay?’, the question is basically on your expression as he speaks up before you ask. “Confused?. Please don’t worry, I promise you your safety, security, as well as privacy, all I ask is for you to stay. I know it's a big ask, but if you were taken once I want to prevent it from happening again.” You feel hesitance, until remembering that not much is left after the attack, at least you would be safe and learn a thing or two here. Agreeing no out of obligation but genuine interest after thought. Xbalanque grins as he pats your shoulder before standing up and offering a hand, as you reach out and take it, standing on your wobbly cramped legs as he offers words to praise with the occasion; ‘i got you’ although those works make you slightly weak in the knees with the way they are spoken. Letting him help you walk out of the tent, waving goodbye to the medic before showing you a tour of their stationed camp.
By now it has gotten late as the heated sun started setting over the horizon, lighting the land with a beautiful golden glow. Focusing on the sunset as you sit on a log with the wooden bowl from dinner on your lap forgotten, you fail to notice Xbalanqure walk over and sit beside you. “It's beautiful, isn’t it?” he questions, causing you to jump from shock as you yelp and whip to look at him. “Sorry sorry, didn't mean to make you jump, I was just saying how beautiful it is, don't you agree?” As you calm down from the scare you go back to gazing at the sunset while agreeing, “yes, it's beautiful” is your reply as you keep staring at the golden light slowly disappearing. “It sure is, one of the most beautiful things I've ever witnessed.” he states as you nod, what you don't catch onto is how Xbalanque keeps staring your way rather than forwards, as he rests his head in his hand, staring as the glow of the light on your facial features as you continue to be oblivious, only then as the sun is beyond the horizon with the moon rising Xbalanque offers you his hand again as he walks you to your own tent next to his.
Speaking a quick goodnight to him as you enter your tent, zipping it up to see a few pairs of clothing folded nearby, immediately discarding the same clothes you've been wearing since the dragon took you, you feel joyous for the option of another outfit. Getting changed and laying down on the sleeping bag. Taking off your pendant you wrap it around the section where you hang lamps, you want to keep the pendant but it almost got you killed before, having it hang above you as you sleep is good enough. Without needing a blanket due to the heat even when the sun's down, having the padding of the blanket and sleeping bag under you lures you into a restful slumber unlike ever before.
It's early when you’re awoken by the shuffle of feet and the occasional of blade colliding with blade, sitting up dazed while rubbing your eyes your brain questions the noises outside your tent. Once your brain catches up you momentarily panic thinking that an attack is happening before remembering where you currently are, a warrior campsite. Listening closely from within your tent, all combat is between person on person due to the blades colliding. Feeling the beat of your heart settle as you realise what's happening is probably morning drills for them, you quickly change with the clothes provided to you from yesterday as you exit the tent. Standing up and taking a few steps a cramp in your legs causes you to stumble and wince in pain as you struggle to keep standing, before you could lose balance and hit the ground, a pair of familiar arms swoop you up.
With your left hand resting on the cramped area the right wrapped around the back of Xbalanques neck for stability. With ease he carries you over to a nearby log and sets you down gently before sitting down next to you. With a concerned tone he asks “You ok? Is it another cramp?” before inspecting the cramped area. “Yeah, I'm fine, you don't worry about me.” you respond as you try and brush off his concern, although that doesn't happen as he puts pressure on your cramp slowly massaging it, “A cramp is nothing to brush off since it could lead to further injury. Soldiers can’t fight at their full potential if they get a cramp either so there's no need to be embarrassed.” The words give you some comfort that puts the embarrassment at ease, understating some truth behind his words as you nod as he continues to massage the cramp until it was nothing more than a memory.
Stretching your leg as you stand up and look down at Xbalanque still kneeling before you, looking up at you with a brazen smirk, it takes you a moment of pondering before you register the compromising position it is to an onlooker. Without a second of hesitation you sit down with a scoff just as he lets out a heartily laugh “Hmm? Is something the matter Carissima?” he knows what he’s doing, that Cheeky bastard. Covering your face with your hands to hide the blush that crept up onto your cheeks, leaving a warm feeling behind on the back of your neck as he laughs in enjoyment. Still basking in the ecstasy of your embarrassment Xbalanque quiets down and finally stands.
“You should get some breakfast, I'm certain you’re quite hungry by now.” gently prying your hands away from your face as he helps you stand, placing a hand on your lower back as he delicately leads you towards the chefs area, making sure to go slow when your legs start to give out.
Breakfast wasn’t extraordinary, however highly appreciated, giving you a boost of energy for the early hours of the day, deciding what to use that energy for was a decision you didn’t know how to answer. Asking Xbalanque what you could help with results in him telling you to rest, now restless and energized you took the initiative to ask around. After some questioning on who needs help the most, you were tasked with gardening, the medics get herbs while food goes to the chefs, a task that helps you repay both the workers and the troops back.
Arriving at the gardens are surprisingly lush for such a dry climate, each section is labelled with a stone tablet. Once one of the other gardeners takes notice of you they call you over. After a quick conversation with them, they lead you to a section of the garden with quenepa berries as the gardener hands you a set of gloves and a woven straw basket, understanding the assignment you start the task dropping the berries into the basket as you go down the line.
You’re about halfway down the line when midday rolls around, you would have skipped lunch to continue your task if it wasn’t for Xbalanque hunting you down like a saurian to drag you to the table to eat while nagging you for not resting, even though it's only sore legs. Sitting down next to him as you both eat he talks about the progress of the war, a few more dragons defeated whilst conquering more land, by tomorrow troops will be moving out.
The expedition should hopefully only last a week until the rest of camp can move up with them. Hearing the plans should make you excited due to such progress, however worry gnaws at you for reasons unknown. Xbalanque catches onto your hesitance “Hey, what's wrong? I know a week is a long time but it’ll be alright, I promise.” he offers you words of comfort as you sit and listen, what's left of your lunch is forgotten as you question why you're upset in the first place, as you jump from idea to idea to find any solution to your worries with a pout of puzzlement on your face, Xbalanque pipes up, “Confused? Hmm.. .. .. Maybe writing down your thoughts might help?” The offer might not give you the answer you're looking for instantly, even so, the offer is one you take, at least even if you never find the answer, you'll be able to keep track of the days, unlike with the hostage dragon. “Alright then i’ll get you a few pages later, for now, try and relax” he voices as he gives you a pat on your back before he stands, reaching his hands up to stretch upwards getting ready to go back to leading the war, he stops and points to your plate “You should finish your meal.” he states, waiting to hear your confirmation and to see you finishing the food before finally leaving. Once he’s gone you feel off, not in a way that makes you sick, but more in a way that makes you miss him even though he was just here? ‘What is going on with you today?’ you think to yourself as you rise from your seat and walk back to the gardens to finish the work you started this morning, although your brain keeps going back to him as you keep snapping yourself out of it and continuing with berry picking.
The sun is at its hottest now when dinner is finished for the troops, Xbalanque walk with you from the gardens again, without nagging you this time, instead only with a quick comment on how ‘you don’t need to help if you feel like paying back or not freeloading’ before continuing back to the table area. Just as he promised once you sit down Xbalanque hands you a small book alongside some charcoal to write with, giving him an appreciative smile as well as thanking him. Placing the journal on your lap as the two of you make conversation over dinner, by the end of you feel drained of energy unlike before while the soreness in your legs hit like a brick, making the decision to head to your tent early so you could write in peace while resting. Offering to walk you to your tent so you don't fall you agree, making your way back to your tent and offering him a good night before you zip the tent open and enter. Xbalanque lingers around for a few moments hoping to catch a bit of your presence before it's gone, leaving with a sigh once he can’t. From inside the tent all you hear is the sigh and the departing footsteps as you change before settling down on the sleeping bag, opening the journal as you begin to write down within it about today as well as the prominent thoughts you could remember.
Coming to a roadblock with what to write down as the question that ran your mind for answer previously is back into play on why you feel upset, deciding to put the charcoal down and sleep with a defeated exhale once you understand you wouldn’t find the answer tonight. Laying your head down as you drift off to sleep, the last thought that plays in your mind is Xbalanque before you’re asleep.
Same as yesterday you rise out of bed to the sounds of troops training, the cold of the morning air hitting you simultaneously, letting out a sneeze as you wrap the blanket around yourself for warmth, without the motivation to change to not risk losing the little warmth you have you chose to stay within your tent, although the decision is short-lived as your tent is zipped open from the outside. Xbalanque peaks inside the tent, smiling as he sees you huddling for warmth under the covers, “Morning, heard you sneeze and knew you were awake. Cold?” he greets you as he looks you over, you’re surprised that he isn't cold at all, especially since he's shirtless, taking notice of the sweat on his body he probably warmed himself up enough with training.
Xbalanque drags you out of the tent as he pulls you close, expecting his body to be cold as stone you’re pleasantly surprised that he’s warm, sweaty, but comfortably warm, your sleepy brain instantly leaches onto his heat as you quickly wrap yourself around him, catching him by surprise for a second before letting out a warming laugh, embracing you closer by lifting you up. “Come on, no matter how cold you are you still need breakfast". The walk to the table was a blur to you as you tinker in the space between asleep and awake, opening your eyes once you’re set down on a cold chair, as you sift the blanket around to try and block the cold out to only give up when there isn’t enough to keep some wrapped around yourself.
By the time breakfast is placed down the cold air has fully awakened you, the warmth from the food keeping the shivers at bay as you eat. The two of you didn’t make much conversation, just basking in each other's presence, Xbalanque finished eating by the time you were halfway done, instead of leaving he spends the rest of the time watching you with a smile that rivals the sun, you glance over at him as you both make eye contact for a few seconds as you heart skips a beat, focusing back on your food as your heart beats faster, you miss the adoring look in his eyes. Remembering how he will be leaving later today you ask if you can spend time with him before he leaves, Xbalanque thinks over for a moment “I have a meeting with some other on what should be a priority, you are free to join by my side during it?” he answers, although the idea of sitting though a meeting you might not fully understand sounds tedious, not only will it be time with him, but still significantly better than any time spent with that dragon, agreeing to the meeting he nods and leads the way to the meeting area.
You were correct, that meeting was quite mind boggling, spending so much time with Xbalanque being sweet or cheeky you never thought about how wise and strategic he had to be to lead an entire army against dragons as well as make the calls, you almost forgot that he’s the same guy that purposely kept kneeling in front of you just to make it look provocative to onlookers.
It warmed up significantly once lunch time came, you have been changed for a while now as you stand around nearby, watching a group of troops prepare for the expedition, Xbalanque is at the vanguard, you never seen him this serious before, you want to wish him well before he departs but you don't wish to disturb him, choosing to stare at him from where you stand. Before they set off Xbalanque walks over to you, he’s still alert yet still attempts to tone it down for you.
The feeling of confliction is still within you as you just stare at his face, there are things you wish to say to him yet you feel tongue tied the longer you hold his stare, starting to fidget with your fingers before giving him a quick hug when you finally finding words to say to him so he isn’t kept in silence. “May this be a successful expedition for us in this war, and please, stay safe out there Xbalanque.” Before he could respond the troops call out to him, ready to start the journey to the first post, unable to keep the waiting Xbalanque tightens the hug for a quick moment before placing a gentle kiss on the palm of your hand before he departs from you. The kiss on your hand causes a light blush to appear on your cheeks as you watch the warriors follow behind him weapons ready.
Xbalanque gives you a quick glance over your shoulder as you're left stunned by the kiss, once he disappeared over the horizon you finally find the answer as to why you were upset yesterday, you didn't want him to leave.
Lunch was abandoned that day, the same would have been for dinner, yet one of the chefs that watched you skip lunch today sought you out so you couldn't skip this meal. You would have gone back to your tent if it wasn't for a quick check up in the medical tent for your legs, after the thorough examination you are walked back to your tent with a scroll with a written step by step instructions for stretches you can do to help reduce the cramps.
Writing a quick summary of the day within the pages of the journal you set your mind to fully use it up, even though the mystery that led you to receiving it in the first place was solved. As you sit and write the realisation that you caught feelings for Xbalanque crashed into you like a title wave, you want to deny you caught feelings so fast for him, you basically met the guy 2 days ago. You know why you fell for him, since the first meeting he’s done everything he could to help you. As you toss the diary to the side when you lay back and stare at your handing pendant, as thoughts and questions of how Xbalanque is doing, you truly did fall for your hero like a damsel in distress. As you think about your feelings you start to question if he would feel the same, or if he’s only being himself and you're reading into his actions.
The next six days would have been a blur if it went for your writing it all down, you’ve spent so much time helping around the camp as some have to start packing up before the rest. Keeping yourself busy from thinking and worrying about Xbalanque, you focus your attention on helping the gardeners finish harvesting the plants, you spent most of the time digging up the plants and replanting them in clay pots for easier travel, it took around two and a half days to finish with the garden, by the end of it you had to wash your clothes in the nearby creek due to how dirt got on them. That night you slept great once you were finished with your stretches.
There was a day of rest until you were out helping the medical post pack away cots and blankets since you didn't wish to accidentally mishandle any important supplies. Having to keep snapping yourself out of constant anxious thoughts about the wellbeing of Xbalanque, you manage to finish with what you could help with before the end of the fourth day, feeling too tired with physical exhaustion you haphazardly finished your routine of stretching and writing just so you could sleep.
The fifth day there wasn't much that needed your help, you spent most of the day walking around, since getting the stretching instructions the cramps have gone down significantly, you forgot you even had them to begin with, only remembering when someone checks up on how you’re fairing. Without much to distract yourself your mind wanders back to Xbalanque, even if you understand he can fend for himself and quite effortlessly so, you still pray to every archon in Teyvat for his safety. Even within the seed of your worries planted in your mind you still can’t shake the kiss from your mind, the feeling of his lips on your hand, you imagine if the lips were on another part of your skin, or even his lips on yours- instantly snapping yourself out of those thoughts as shame fills your soul you decide to trying to keep yourself occupied as you walk around. That night when you finished your routine and lay down, your eyes are left focusing on your pendant when your mind once again wonders. That was your first sleepless night at the camp.
The 6th day a letter arrives at the camp from a Qucusaur, labelled from Xbalanque, he writes to give the rest who had to stay behind an update, the troops managed to push back the dragons like they planned for, now that the coordinates of where they chose to set up camp has been claimed, all that's left is the chefs to pack up, the dismantling of tents, and loading everything into wagons pulled by Tatankasaurus. Since the trip will start tomorrow, today you have to help load the wagons up. You’re currently helping the soldiers stock their wagons with straw dummies and archery boards, this is the most you have interacted with the troops since arriving. The heat of the sun is unbearable as most have abandoned their tasks and left to find shelter under shade or in the creek nearby, as you sit by the creek with your legs in the water a soldier walks over with an outfit. You’re confused as to why they’re giving this to you as you wait for the warrior to speak for clarification, “in the letter read out loud this morning, Xbalanque left a note requesting for you to wear something more lightweight. He also requested for you to ride on one of the saurians rather than walking, lucky you.” the soldier speaks as he sanders off, leaving you with the outfit on your lap. Even while he’s away Xbalanque still is thinking about you and your comfort, as the knowledge fills you with bliss. Once the sun started to descend in the sky did everyone go back to finishing packing the wagons, as the chefs finish with dinner and start cleaning their utensils to pack away, all that's left shall be tent, you were briefly told about the process of taking down the tent as the individual hand you a sack for you to use. Your nerves are on an all time high with nervousness yet excitement all at once that night, as you write what you experienced in the day. Finishing up writing as you pack the journal inside the sack first alongside the step sheet from the medics before folding the rest of your clothes and shoving them inside, deciding to untie your pendant from above and hide it within the sack. As you stretch your legs and lay down it hits you just how weary you were from today's work on top of not sleeping much the previous night, letting out a yawn as you get comfortable on the sleeping bag.
You are woken up by a soldier just before the sun rises, getting ready to take your tent down. You quickly change into the clothing Xbalanque wanted you to wear for the ride, the outfit was dress-like with strings to tie it with fabric to drape over your head like a hood, the length was to the knees, while there were no sleeves, coloured in orange with green and yellow patterns, it was light enough for wind to easily blow though yet still enough layers to not see through it, with the addition of sandals and a pair of similar shorts. Shoving what you wore previously into the sack as you tie it up and take it out of the tent. Quickly and quite efficiently you properly put your tent away, packing it alongside your bag onto the back of a Tatankasaurus as others do the same with their tents and sacks. Watching as a few people get onto the backs of the saurians as others hold the leash to lead the animals with them when soldiers form around the entire group with weapons ready for anything, you’re lead to a saurian as the soldier from yesterday helps you up, giving them a quick thanks as you hold onto the leather handles of the saurians saddle. There are a few other Tatankasaurus in front of you so it takes a little for the group at the back to start moving, Once the Tatankasaurus starts moving you feel nervous for the first few steps until you get used to the beast, as your whitening grip loosens and your hands gain their colour back once you get the hang of it. There won't be any stops unless necessary you’re told as the chefs and gardeners are tasked with carrying baskets of fruits and vegetables to hand out, one of the cooks offers you whatever you wanted as a breakfast substitute, just deciding on an apple the worker offers a pocket knife to cut it into slices, you think for a moment before declining the offer, yet thanking them for both the apple and the option to slice it up, preferring the apple as the way it is you start to much on it while basking in the scenery of the trail with the light from the morning sun.
The ride has been mostly silent to not attract any danger to the group, the most noise has been footsteps with the occasional wagon bumping up from a rock in the path. When the sun has risen higher in the sky, by now dinner would have started, the group decides to keep trekking on, since the coordinates are far from where the group is now. Expecting the camp to be close by you leaned down to ask a soldier just how close by it is, they look your way to acknowledge they heard you before looking ahead again “not far, we suspect to be there by sundown, if you needed anything just say, i’d rather not get in trouble for neglecting Xbalanque’s prized possession." he speaks as it leaves you appalled, not only will the sun be set before arriving at the camp, but being called a prized possession was uncalled for, the soldier quickly looks at at you and lets out a chuckle, “What? Surprised to be called that? It's obvious he wants you, he spends all his time working yet recently he actually started taking breaks just to spend time with you. I thought you guys were married until I witnessed the separate tents. Somebody asked if you were engaged and he just said ‘maybe someday’ I was surprised when I heard that, especially seeing him kneel before you.” When the warrior finished with his speech you felt your heart stop at the last words, so someone did see him kneel like that! With the urge to hide yourself from the light of day and to scream your lungs out, you instead decide to just cover your face with the fabric over your head, by now the soldiers have changed positions as a new warrior is walking where that last one was, as they ask if you're ok you just nod quickly as you can while gripping the leash to the Tatankasaurus. The closer the sun is to departing from the horizon the faster your heart beats with anxiety and excitement all at once, after a week of being separated and alone to develop feelings you’re happy to see Xbalanque again, yet doubt fills your mind with ‘maybe you’re reading into his actions a bit too much’ even if someone admitted that he’s changed to spend time with you, there is still the second guess of ‘him being friendly’.
The sky is darker as the path is lit up by a few in the group holding torches, as you’re zoned out second guessing your feelings your attention to drawn to a fire in the nearby distance, the chatter of voices seem to wake the rest of the people as the sudden burst of energy rushes through the group as they pick up the pace, as the Tatankasaurus you’re riding turns the corner of the path you notice the troops from the expedition leading the groups in the front, once the saurian you’re riding on stops as the cart it’s been dragging is detached, hands reach out and lift you off. Suddenly the world is spinning as whoever is holding you is whirling around in circles as they laugh, the moment they stop the rapid movements you finally can see the cuprate, Xbanaque. “Heh, did you miss me?” He speaks to you, without missing a beat you hug him, all doubts from before is gone as you're wrapping your arms around his neck as you twist your legs out of his hold to wrap them around his waist. You don't need to verbally reply for him to know you did miss him, as he adjusts his grip on you. Feeling overwhelmed with emotions a few tears are produced as it lands on his chest, a cold armoured hand comes up to rub the space between your shoulders as you cry. “Hey it's ok it's ok, no need for tears.” he whispers in your ears, before he can continue his whispers of comfort and praise you shut him up by colliding your lips to his. There is a hitch in his breath before the hand on your back in on the back of your head, keeping your lips together. It's not long before you separate for air, you’re panting trying to regain the air in your lungs when he decides to voice his thoughts “Mea Lux, I didn’t know you missed me that much? Do not fret now, Carissima, we are together again!” As he walks past the crowd of onlookers he makes his way to the campfire to sit around with you still wrapped around him.
“Xbalanque, I still need to set up my tent-” you try to protest yet it's cut short with his reply "nonsense, you’ll sleep within mine tonight, we don't need to sleep together, but I would prefer you close tonight.” You mull over his words for a moment, before you give him a nod “yeah, i would like that.” you yawn out, too tired to try and put your tent up you accept the easier way to rest tonight. Xbalanque stands with you in his arms as he walks towards his grand tent. Your sack and wrapped up tent is placed beside his when he opens the door to his tent, once his hand is free he grabs you sack and brings both you and the bag inside. Setting you down on his sleeping bag, dropping your bag beside you as he gives you a warm smile as he turns around to give you some privacy, he then strips himself of his gold armour and adornments. While he’s turned you discard yourself of your clothes, digging through your bag as you grab the first thing you can to put on. Changing into what you grabbed as you toss what you previously wore to the side before grabbing the journal. By now Xbalanque turned back around as you’re writing, giving you a decently surprised look “oh, you’re still writing? Did you find that answer from the week prior?” he gives a chuckle as he sits down next to you. Finishing up writing you set the journal to the side, “yeah, i did actually.” as you reply you catch his attention as he awaits for the answer “i didn’t want you to leave.” His breath hitches as you speak before bursting out laughing “Ha! If i knew you were missing me before i left i would’ve kissed you better than on the palm.” he laughs out. “Well, you always could now?” you reply with a cheeky smile as he stops laughing for a moment. “Since when did you get so cheeky?” he asks as he pulls you onto his lap, with a simple reply with “from you” before kissing him again and again until you fall asleep. He lays you down beside him and tucks you under his arms, giving you a kiss on your cheek “goodnight Lunam Meam.” You slept peacefully that night by his side.

"So.. .. What you are saying Traveler, is that your Saurian companion was digging around and found this old notebook, and when reading thought you found out it was written by the First Pyro Archon's lover from almost 1000 years ago?" Mavuika asks, staring at the torn pages of the diary. The Traveler gives an answer in confirmation as hey Pat the Saurian. Finally Mavuika looks up from the worn pages as she closes the book and holds it out for the Traveler to grab again. "Well, it wouldn't hurt to visit him to see if it's real or just one of those books Citalia reads like it's holy. Hop on." Mavuika speaks as she gets on her motorcycle, making room for the traveler to hop on so they could visit the Archon currently possessing the body of Mausau.
