Bethany's presence in King's Landing was on account of fealty — not to House Targaryen, but to House Stark. While she rightfully belonged in the Rills to aid in preparations for winter and what it threatened to bring, she had accompanied her liege lord for the purposes of recruiting allies to his cause.
Her former status as a Lady of the Riverlands — for those brief few years her second husband had deigned to live — had made her a natural candidate to approach those who hailed from the region. When she spied the young heir of Riverrun milling about the tables in the wake of another evening of feasting, Bethany took the opportunity presented to her.
"You rode very well in the tilts, Lord Tully," Bethany praised, bowing her head in short greeting. "Knights in the North are few and far between, and tourneys all the more rare." She smiled at the younger man, and continued: "you will not remember me, I expect — I made your acquaintance once before."
