5 + fluff: “OH you’re jealous!”7 + fluff: “Please just kiss me already.”
“I don’t know why you’re surprised--the guy seemed like a dick.”
You let out a sharp breath through your nose, the irritation you felt from the entire night only bubbling at your roommate’s snarky comment. You shut the door of the fridge a bit too hard, the contents inside rattling as your grip on the bottle of white wine tightened. Turning around, you glared at Calum through the opening on the wall that separated the kitchen and living room where he sat, jaw tight as you opened the bottle. “Thanks, Calum, that really makes me feel better,” you retorted, the sarcasm dripping from your voice before you took a gulp of the wine from the bottle. You didn’t care--it was your bottle.
“I’m not tryin’ to make you feel bad,” Calum responded, getting up from the couch and making his way into the kitchen where you were happily drinking your wine. “But I told you he wasn't worth your time.”
Pulling the bottle away, you rested your free hand against your hip as you raised an eyebrow at Calum, who came to stand at the end of the counter, just a couple of feet away from you. “Is that an I told you so?” you huffed in annoyance as the few mouthfuls of wine you just swallowed started warming up your skin. “Are you seriously saying I told you so to me after I’ve had a shitty date? Is that all you’re capable of?”
You were being pouty and whiney, the wine quickly taking its effect, especially since you kept drinking more and more as you eyed Calum accusingly. And yet, even in your annoyance, you took in the sight of him; utterly handsome in his grey sweats and black tee, looking all types of lean and attractive than any man you’d ever met. Than any man you’d ever been on a good or shitty date with.
His lips parted, sounds of protest escaping him as he stammered, “No, I’m just--I didn’t--”
“Just what?” you challenged, putting the half empty bottle down and taking the few steps towards Calum, tilting your head. “You’ve always got something to say about the guys I go on dates with--why is that?” When he pressed his lips together, inhaling and exhaling deeply through his nose as his eyes remained glued to yours, a flash of hesitance crossing over his eyes, your eyebrows shot up as it clicked in your somewhat wine hazy brain. “OH you’re jealous!”
Calum nearly choked on air, and you thought this was the most you’ve ever seen him lose his composure. Normally, he was the poster child for calm, cool and collected, never showing anyone that they were getting the better of him. But it seemed like in this moment, you did. “I’m not jealous,” he denied, though you could tell he wasn’t only trying to convince you, but himself as well. “I just think you deserve better than the asshats you go out with.”
You stepped towards him once more, the distance between you two drastically decreased as you raised an eyebrow. “Better like you?”
He started stammering once more, and his lack of composure once more was utterly endearing and completely taking you by surprise, though something you could get used to. Especially if you are the one flustering him.
And when Calum couldn’t seem to form coherent words, stumbling around a bit too much for his own good, you merely grinned and stepped up to him. “Stop,” you told him, a breathy laugh escaping her. “Please just kiss me already.”
It was the best way Calum had ever been shut up.
