They roared in triumph. A victorious howl chained together by the beating of fists against the trees they resided on. A mantra to serve as their token of appreciation—the entirety of their pride thrust upon him in the wake of their greatest victory. A symphony all for his benefit. Alleged triumph remained skewed along the matted floor, overgrowth bloodied from where the beast’s body lied. Broken—shattered. The only proper words to describe it as he gazed down upon sabor. An unnatural predator, one that had survived for years on end, always stalking their troop for some unknowable reason. Greater game, perhaps. Even so, it was foolish for a leopard to challenge the might of the gorillas.
Though none had expected her to fall to the strength of the outcast.
It was almost bittersweet.
But this moment—this victory would not be soured by his own doubts, nor the mind of an isolated individual. Instead, he reveled the winnings; being safety and the family’s approval.
Tarzan roared.
A voice crackling into the air, deepened timbre raised into a call bred from the blessings of the wild. It is a shout, a signature that had not been heard for a decade. He was always quiet, far too meek to relay himself as anything more than a mere child. A boy grown in the company of those mightier than him, looking upon him as if he were poison to their collective. But in this moment—he was of their kind. The triumphant bellow ranged across the vast emerald, travelling to every beast that would heed his mark.
Ah, but his home beheld an aptitude for distracting him. Even from something so precious as this. Her body was cast in front of him. The one he ached to prove his worth for. The one who would deem him fit for this family once and for all—
And his home-land applied a severance to this possibility. Again.
A resonance unlike any other, himself believing that the blasted sky had shattered for the brief moment. Inexplicable it was, for the only words conjured to describe it was wretched and powerful. A boom of sorts, yet not so precise as such. It sourced from the mountains miles away, all heads directed in where it came from. That was all it took to invoke Kerchek’s orders, urging the rest of his pack to move on. Alas, one so curious as Tarzan could not help but stray from the orders of one so fearful. Especially due to another rumor spread from several of the animals on the way to alleged disturbance.
‘Creatures. They stride on their hind legs!’
Peculiar indeed.
And he was off, already swinging towards where these accursed oddities could be. More importantly, of where the foreigners was striding to.
