♟: Patching up a wound
“Can’t you just look a bit happier?” Yoonjo huffed at the tall blonde guy standing next to her.
She knew he didn’t enjoy being the one waiting. Nobody liked it actually. But Sehun was different. Yoonjo believed that by growing up as a prince he could get anything he wanted at once. Seemingly he wouldn’t be good at waiting. He just asked, and there would be people ready to offer assistance. Yoonjo supposed it was the reason why he looked visibly irritated having waited for just … nearly an hour.
Or was it because he was just the “experimental option” for her first-attempt-of-making-Jatjuk? Hm… It made more sense in this case. Yoonjo wanted to make some porridge for Myungsoo. He was ill. And the ginger had to admit that she didn’t really trust her cooking ability soooo she found it better to get someone to try the the porridge first before she gave it to the real patient, Myungsoo. And her choice was Sehun.
He didn’t say he hated jatjuk though. At least he got something to eat for free. Free. Yeah. And it was even made by those pretty delicate hands of his best-friend-for-life. He should have been happy for that. Not everybody could get this special chance.
“Can you put the pine nuts into the blender for me? I’ll go check therice.” She gave Sehun a nudge, asking for a little help. He just pouted.
Just as quickly as she left the counter, Yoonjo returned, with a pan of strained rice on her hand. Because of an “ouch!” from nowhere. Considering it could be the voice of only one person, her attention automatically went to Sehun.
She got it, fast. “Omona I forgot to tell you to be careful of the blade!” Yoonjo hurriedly put dowm the pan and ran to him. He hid his hand from her at first, but Yoonjo managed to catch hold of it.
“Don’t be silly. Let me see it!” She furrowed. He didn’t need to keep his pride in this situation. It seemed that he also understood. Soon, he gave in.
Thankfully, the cut wasn’t too deep. Yoonjo reached out for some tissues, wiping out the blood. She tried to be very gentle. Yoonjo wasn’t sure if the wound itself hurt him, but seeing her best friend like this, she felt hurt already.
For a moment, Yoonjo saw a sweet, endearing smile on his face. Following after, all of his displesure vanished. The change in his visage was within a blink, but long enough for her to catch sight of. That smile. He didn’t often give out that mild look. And she just realised how close the distance between them was.
“Remember to be more careful next time alright?” Yoonjo quickly spoke, distracting herself from his drop dead gorgeous face. Yoonjo took a step back, but her hand lingered a bit on his. A weird feeling grew in her.
Suddenly, her imagination started picture the future. Surely, someday a beautiful lady would walk into his life, as them two would be bonded with love, that lady would be the one taking care of Yoonjo’s best friend for the rest of his life. Does it sound like losing something? Oh you’re being selfish Jojo. Yoonjo scolded herself. As if you ever looked after him. Those were stupid thoughts, in her opnion.
“We need a bandage. Wait for me a little. I’ll take it for you.” She stood up, smiling as she drag herself back to the present.
Hopefully, everything would always stay this nice. Best friends. The words replayed in her mind.
