I. Her wand is drawn and she can't breathe, glaring up at him with fire in her eyes. He's got that stupid smirk of his on, mocking her, but for a moment, it falters, she thinks, though she can't be sure. The tension is palpable between them, bouncing off the walls in heat. She opens her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Maybe he does the same, a biting remark on his tongue, but he doesn't speak either. " I fucking hate you. " Lily's words are cold, breathing increased, and she shakes her head, turning away from him, not sure why there's more than just anger flowing through her veins. He grabs her arm, tugging her back towards him. "Who said I like you?" And that's when he kisses her, and she knows this is wrong, but she's not going to stop him.II. She doesn't hate him, and that kills her inside, that she doesn't hate him when he hates her. Maybe he doesn't, but he hates her kind. Muggleborns. He's cruel, she knows. She's witnessed it, has heard the rumors. But, she doesn't hate him, and that makes her hate herself, as she pulls down her skirt, straightening out her uniform. He's speaking to her, probably telling her to meet him in the girl's lavatory on the first floor later. No one goes in there. "Yeah, all right. I'll see you later." Her lips press to his quickly, a goodbye, which she never does. Merlin, she's in trouble. III. "I love you." Her words are whispered, as they lay in his bed, and she doesn't mean to say the words. She doesn't know how they ended up like this, together almost. He tenses under her, and for a moment, she's worried he will kick her out, and her heart is thudding out of her chest. "You don't have to say it back." Green eyes watch him in the dark, and she trails her fingertips along his chest, biting her lip. He doesn't say anything, just sighs and presses his lips to hers. That's all she'll get from him, IV. "I can't do this anymore!" That's her shouting, throwing a pillow at him. She can't take the secrets, can't take the jealousy, the sneaking around. Her heart is his and he just throws it away, fooling around with pureblood princesses who are everything she's not. She hates feeling like she's not worthy, like she's just lucky to be in the same room. "Flower, stop." He grabs her wrists and pulls her close, and there's an intensity in his eyes that she can't meet, turning her head from him, tears in her eyes. "I'm doing this to keep you safe. Can't you see I don't want anything to happen to you?" That's as close as he's ever come to saying he loves her, and she softens, hating herself for doing so, but she does it anyways. "I'm sorry." Her voice is a whisper, as he tilts her chin up, kissing her gently. "I know you are." V. This is it. Her last day at Hogwarts. She can't help but feel sad, looking back at the castle as they load into the carriages. She knows this is the end of life as she knows it, climbing into the last carriage, a bit shocked to see Amycus. "Oh, I should I'll find another carriage."
"Don't." It's a command that she listens to, biting her lip, sitting down. "So, you and Potter, hmmm?" And she doesn't say anything, just nods, because what else is she supposed to say? Both she and Amycus knew they'd never last. How could they? They were two different people, on opposite sides of this war. No, they both knew this was going to happen. It didn't make it hurt any less. Finally, the carriages pull up to the train station, and Lily moves to leave quickly, but, for the last time, Amycus stops her. And for the last time, they kiss goodbye, and when Lily boards the Hogwarts Express, she's even more upset.
