I’ve continued the little adventure of Benjamin and Dakota in their shared Yanlii AU. It might be a bit long but please enjoy. Also prepare for cringe, I love drama but I can’t write at the same time... xD
This is the continuation of this
Dakota woke up to a headache, and many more painful little stings all over her arms. Once her vision cleared she looked down but already knew what she’s going to see, Jacob left bitemarks and hickeys all over her alongside with some bruises. Dakota just sighed, how and why did she got into this situation she just couldn’t understand, but one thing was certain: She needed tons of water and some painkillers. Fast. Poor Ben might need some too. Her eyes shot to the door and her stomach lurched with fear. He must be here as well, and only the Gods know what Jacob did to him, although she had some ideas. Wasting no time she got dressed and darted towards the door, of course her knife and her weapons were gone, Jacob wasn’t that dumb to leave her here with firearms or anything that could be used to hurt herself. Or others. But she’ll make do without them, she just needs to find their exit fast because she is certain that Jacob is not within his little compound now. While she faked sleeping, the man and one of his hunters discussed things about new recruits and those that might needed killing. Dakota sighed. “One disaster at a time.” She muttered to herself. Then opened the room’s door to look around. To her surprise there was no guard or hunter at the there. Maybe Jacob took the bait and thought that she is finally obedient? She was for three or four days, she needed her little freedom to move around a bit. And it might just fooled Jacob enough. She was nearing the little torture chamber Jacob kept Ben in, she could already smell the blood and it switched Dakota’s brain into overdrive. The little notion in her brain that Jacob can’t kill Ben or her because Joseph ordered him was out of her mind, all she could smell was blood and she was desperately hoping that he is okay and this is just a game of her tired mind that’s still hazy from the bliss. She burst into the room, ignoring the voices that came from there, the two peggies turned towards her scared thinking it was Jacob. Dakota jump kicked one of them to the ground rendering him unconscious, took his pistol and shot the hunter who just tried to shoot her with a bliss arrow. She shot up from her kneeling position and ran to Ben who was beaten and bleeding, but alive. She tried to hold back her sobs with all her might, but at the same time raw rage started to bubble inside her. She’s going to put all of them in the ground, she will shoot, gut, torture all of them. She wanted to scream and just kill everyone in this damned silo that was turned into a bunker, but her more rationally thinking self turned itself on and she pocketed the gun then checked Ben over. He was beaten, and she made a mental note of giving the same treatment to Jacob once she gets her chance, and his face was swollen and he had a now treated stomach stab wound. Dakota heaved a heavy sigh and kissed Ben’s forehead.
“Wake up baby, we need to go.” She asked him, softly nuzzling him. His hair was still wet from the torture he was put through. She was stroking his hair regardless, not caring one bit.
“Ben, honey it’s me! Please wake up! Don’t give up on me now! It’s my turn to save us. Let me shine a bit here.” Dakota joked playfully, but knew they have to hurry because that gunshot was loud as hell in a closed place as this one, and Ben opened his not swollen eye at her. She almost cried out in joy but just settled with a low chuckle mixed with some silent happy tears. Seeing him trying to talk she just shushed him.
“No talking Ben, I am getting us out of here. Come on sweetheart.” She helped him get on his feet. Poor guy was weak and beaten, and lost a bit of blood, but he tried to hold his own weight despite Dakota giving him support. On their way out Dakota looked at the bliss arrow on the ground and then picked it up, it might help them on their way out. As soon as she was finished picking up the arrow, three peggies walked in on them. Dakota lowered Ben down to the ground quickly and shot the three intruder. She didn’t given any thought to them, or felt sorry for them, because they’ve got orders to stop them at any cost even if it meant of shooting or beating them. And she sure as hell wasn’t going to let them hurt Ben again. Not while she is here and can fight. Ben groaned and Dakota whipped around ready to attack again but it wasn’t any attacker, it was the poor guy’s injuries.
“Apologies honey, I tried to be gentle.” She apologized helping him up and then continued on their way out. But of course nothing went as smoothly as it should’ve, she cursed herself out for shooting so much because otherwise they could’ve gone out a bit more quietly but as soon as they were out of the bunker, she took a deep breath smiling.
Once in deep enough the woods she sat Ben down and knelt before him looking at him all over again, same injuries. Thank the Gods, she was able to protect him. Her face on the other hand, well she got a few kicks and punches on their way out but she didn’t even felt them and didn’t cared because her most important person was sitting right in front of her. She was still examining Ben when he lifted his hand to cup her face, Dakota looked at him surprised.
“Thank you, Kotie” Ben smiled at her. Dakota put her own hand atop of his and squeezed it affectionately. She held back her tears, they weren’t out of the woods yet. Both metaphorically and literally. She just smiled at him.
“Okay sweetie, you stay here, here’s a gun. There’s a ranger outpost thingy here. Hopefully it has a radio or something I can use to reach Eli and the Whitetails. Just a few steps, and I’ll be here should anything come up.” She calmly stated looking at the brown fences and wooden house not so far from them, few meters. Dakota missed her knife, she could’ve used it now should any danger arise but she dismissed those worries, Ben needed her. She straightened up to go to the small said house but then she felt white hot burning pain in her left side and she fell to her knees, to her surprise and maybe credit, she didn’t screamed. She looked down at her bleeding side and saw her own knife sticking out of it.
“And you were doing so well…” Jacob’s disappointed voice came from the woods, his heavy boots drawing ever closer. He looked like a wolf stalking his prey.
“I think I’ve told you a few times to go to hell…Thought you might get the idea by now…” She groaned trying to stand but fell back to her knees and holding herself up with her right arm, blood seeping from her side. She thanked herself that she relatively sat Ben down next to a bushier tree so he was out of Jacob’s vision for now. Dakota looked right back at Jacob defiantly, bleeding but wholeheartedly ready to fight.
“And since when did you start throwing knives at people, Gods Jacob… And with my own damned knife too!” She had to try and keep the man’s attention on herself. She can’t risk Ben getting back between Jacob’s claws.
“I know Robert is here somewhere too, you wouldn’t have left him there for me to play with.” He flashed a toothy grin. “Pup, did you really think I wouldn’t get a notice once they’ve heard gunshots and found scattered bodies all over my compound?”
He asked stalking ever so closer to her.
Dakota tried to back away a bit as much as she could, anger rising in her. “You are going to pay for what you’ve done to him, you do know that right?” She asked anger seeping into her voice, and Ben noticed that. As much as he was hidden he knew how reckless and explosive she can be and he can’t hold her back in this state. Dakota stood up to her credit, holding her side, fingers slowly sneaking around the handle of the knife in her side.
“Pup, you take that out and you bleed to death. Leave that alone.” Jacob warned her, he was serious but Dakota could swear she heard some worry lace his words. She smiled.
“Well aren’t you so sweet when you’re worried, Jake.” She spat his name in a mocking tone, grinning.
“We go back to the bunker and have that stitched up and then have a little talk about this little defiance of yours.” He stated, then just simply jumped on her without any indication. Pushing her to the ground with his sheer body weight, Dakota groaned. The air was knocked out of her but she was more than ready to fight but not for herself in the first place, Ben needed medical attention and rest. She kicked Jacob as much as she could but the man was a mountain above her, Jacob had taken a hold of her throat with one of his hand and took out his own knife from its holster.
“But of course we can do the talking here too. I’m sure Benjamin could use some entertainment. He enjoyed your moans and cries very much after all.” Jacob grinned at her menacingly. Dakota’s eyes widened, it wasn’t enough that she was weak and Jacob had taken advantage of that but he had the audacity to record all that and then make Ben listen to it? Oh she is not going to have it. She punched him with her bloody hand with every might she could muster, then yanked the knife out of her side to stab him. As a response Jacob caught the knifed right hand and dug one of his fingers into her stab wound. Dakota didn’t knew she could scream so loud, the pain was unbearable. Ben let out a groan trying to stand to help her, sure he had heard hear scream and shout in pain before but never like this. He had to do something, if only his body would want the same thing as he is.
“Bad pup.” Jacob stated calmly. Then pressed on hard on her wound, Dakota screamed again. “There there baby, you know you need pressure on this. I’m just helping you.” He kissed her forehead with ease, not caring that she was wrangling and twisting under him.
Dakota took a deep breath, she has to get out and stabbing him didn’t worked. She needs a change of plans. She stilled under him, letting go of the knife in her hand, faking submission and taking deep breaths signalling that she is done fighting.
“That didn’t take long. Smart.” Jacob smiled victoriously. “Come now baby, we will patch you up and sort this out.” He slowly started to raise himself up alongside with Dakota. Once they were on their feet Jacob looked around, Ben should be here somewhere too. He let his guard down for a second, and that’s what Dakota was waiting for, she had taken the bliss arrow out from her back pocket and shoved deep into Jacob’s side. Jacob looked at her a bit surprised but not that fazed, he knew she would try something after all. Just not a bliss arrow. He was a massive man sure but a drug is a drug and in seconds he started to feel a bit dizzy. His grip on Dakota softening and she jerked her arm back, putting pressure on her wound herself and pocketing her knife. Panting she looked down on him.
“Touch him ever again, and it’s not just a bliss arrow you will get to your side!” She warned him then she shoved him on his chest with her boot.
“Oh babygirl, once I’m up… there won’t be a p-place to hide for you.” He grinned before blacking out. This was a promise. A dangerous promise that Dakota knew she should pay heed to. She let out a louder groan than she wanted to, then started to look towards the bushes where she left Ben. She limped her way back to him, still keeping pressure on her wounds.
“Okay baby, we start limping towards that direction. I highly doubt this asshole followed us on foot so he must have a car or something.” Dakota stated deadpan. They can’t stay here and they can’t wait out the Militia here. Ben looked at her disapprovingly and worried but she was in a better shape than he was. “I’ll be fine Ben.” She kissed his cheek then started their long walk towards their possible escape.
