Unfortunately, YawningClan lost its first medicine cat not long after its founding (exactly a moon after, actually), leaving a quite young Fogpaw to go it alone. v-v
Pebbledapple didn't leave without making an impact, though. He spent his final moon helping build up the Clan to the best of his ability, and spent a lot of time engaging with the Clan's youth! Also helping Fogpaw develop systems for herb foraging and storage, building nests, and using stories to entertain educate the younger cats. The sweet boy will be missed. <3

I had a written thing I was working on to go with this but I haven't written such a big piece in a long time and at this point, I'm not sure if I'll ever get it done. :'D It was going to be a bit of a deep dive into Pebbledapple's past, how he ended up in the crash, his relationship with Fogpaw, and give some more insight into how the Clan's founding went and dip into the lore of YawningClan's future starpath. Not sure if anyone would be interested in that anyway but if you are, let me know!
YawngClan is a Clan built from scratch, using the myths and legends of wild cats passed to help guide their way, by a small group of surviving loners (free-roamers) and pets (kittypets) after surviving a monster crash. Far away from home and having no knowledge of their current location, these cats are determined to survive where their companions who had died in the crash could not. With Amber as their leader, Koi at his side, and eight other cats backing them, the story of YawningClan begins.

Some notes about the founders:
Amber goes by Amber/Amberstar for the first several moons as a courtesy to the stories they're using to help guide the building of their Clan; however, after Amber gains official leader status, he earns the name Amberfather and 8 lives, hence the information on his card
Mumblemeadow swaps between being a warrior and medicine cat for the first few moons, hence the combination title on his card
Skippaw becomes a warrior only a moon after the Clan's founding, so I felt like it was worth putting her warrior name on her card
Snowkit doesn't realize they're trans until early into their apprenticeship but it makes me uncomfortable referring to them by their dead pronouns, so I'll be referring to them using they/them or he/him from the jump; similarly, Fogpaw doesn't realize they're trans until a little bit into their apprenticeship, but I will be referring to her as she/her from the jump
Fogpaw was made a medicine cat apprentice a moon early at the Clan's founding (Moon 00) due to necessity
While being referred to YawningClan from the jump to keep from future confusion, the group does not settle on a name or Clan status until several moons after their founding; similarly, the Clan’s leader Amberstar/Amberfather does not gain true leadership status or their lives until several moons into leading, nor do the cats settle into proper Clan naming rituals and roles for a while. It’s also worth noting that while this is a Clangen blog, I’m mostly using Clangen for cat generation and relationship-building purposes, while the overall plot of YawningClan’s founding will veer quite a ways away from Clangen and canon Clan norms as moons progress. A new starpath (religion), new roles, new naming rituals, etc. This blog is to tell the founding story of modern-day YawningClan, a Clan that I’m developing using Clan canons as starting points and guidelines but not much else, lol. YawningClan is also inspired by and inspiration for a Warriors-themed D&D homebrew that I’m working on building (while learning D&D in the process lol), so there may be some references to that on occasion and even art of the Yawning cats drawn as humans, anthros, tabaxis, etc. I’m just here to have fun and vibe tbh, but I hope y’all have a good time vibing with me!
YawningClan is founded by non-Clan cats, coming from a time and place were Clan cats were not present, so YawningClan uses some slightly different terms! Although they will use canon Warriors terms as well as they grow accustomed to Clan life and interact with other Clan cats. Anyway, I just want to share some of those. :) (Some of these are common sense but,,, I wanted to make this anyways because why not?)
Will be updated as needed!
Upwalkers = Twolegs/Humans; some cats like pets may also simply use the term Humans
Free-roamers = Loners and rogues alike; cats that don't live in Clans or with humans
Pets = Kittypets (may also be called petpets); cats that live with humans
Beasts (and sometimes Trucks) = Monsters/Vehicles; seen as large, scaled creatures owned by humans that allow humans to ride in their mouths in exchange for shelter and food
Humantongue/Humanspeak = A phrase mostly used by pets to describe the language that humans use; pets may understand and use phrases from this language and thus may be called a Humantongue by another pet as a teasing nickname
The first of a couple of Moon 01 updates! Not every moon is gonna have this many update things going on but while the Clan is small, there's already been a lot going on. From Fogpaw becoming a young apprentice to Skippaw becoming Skipfur and... Koiblotch having beef with some of the youngest cats in the Clan... for some reason lol. (The drawing of Koi and Lizard is I think the cutest of the bunch; Koi's such a patootie in it <3)

I probably won't draw them using human swears too often (maybe) but Dusk missing a mouse and saying "Fuck." was just too amusing to me to pass up lol.
Also, not sure if I like the stark white background or how I did the interaction captions? I also made little interaction indicators that I was going to had to show what like of interaction it was (low positive, neutral, high negative, etc) but I couldn't quite figure out where I wanted to put them since I came up with them after finishing the drawings. Oh well! I'll keep messing around with it.

Screech.
Crash.
Boom.
A monster careens over a cliff and into a star-shaped canyon, its body crumpling in the impact. Its crushed skull explodes and flames emerge from its twisted jaw; inside, Upwalker flesh stinks as it burns. The monster’s glassy scales creak and break under the heat’s pressure, creating splits in the beast’s back – openings to escape through, if there were any living creatures left to do so.
Crackle.
Pop.
Bang.
Metal cages inside the monster’s belly rattle and clang. Some are empty, most contain the limp body of a non-survivor. A few have split open like the monster’s body in the crash, allowing for survivors to escape.
A golden and black cat emerges from a smoky opening, a small, unconscious–but breathing–ball of white fur hanging from their jaws. They limp through the remaining shards of the monster, making space for another pair of cats to follow. A large orange and white cat, their fur mussed and blackened by the smoke, nudges a brown youngster ahead of them, then stands by the opening to help the other survivors out of the crumpled mass: a blue-grey senior guiding a youngun of similar coloring; a young trio consisting of dark grey speckled, light grey speckled, and blonde-and-black bodies; finally, with a little help from the ginger cat of similar size, a massive green-grey rosetted cat squeezes out of the monster’s stomach and takes up the rear. The monster’s corpse creaks dangerously, warning the cats of another oncoming explosion. The tortoiseshell in the lead looks around rapidly, assessing the canyon the group has found themselves in, before getting their orange companion’s attention and gesturing to a path leading up the canyon’s side nearby. The ginger and white cat nods in agreement and the two begin to corral their group in that direction; it takes some hobbling, some whimpering, some leaning on each other, but the cats manage to reach the path and begin their way up before the monster explodes a second time. Ears flatten, noses wrinkle, pairs of grey and green and blue and amber eyes look down on the wreckage with both concern and relief.
The cats, former free-roamers and Upwalker pets having been captured and force fed into the monster at one point or another, had no idea where they were or how far away they were from their homes. Their options were to roam the seemingly endless canyon in search of help and resources, or make their way up to the dark, thick forest above. Up the canyon’s side they went.
The ledge they were on, however, ended at the opening of a cave that led into pitch blackness with no other option in sight except to go back the way they came. The group’s leader shared a questioning look with their second-in-command, who shrugged and stated that they had no other option. The tortie took a moment to check in on their other companions–which allowed them to take a moment to steel themselves against the unknown journey ahead. Once everyone was in agreement and a haphazard system was set up to keep everyone together, the cat adjusted their gentle grip on the scruff of the kitten hanging from their jaws, took a breath, and headed forward into the yawning cave.
