Haul Progress - 6/30/2016
So we're about halfway through the year already, which is incredible to me. I started reflecting on my buying for the year, as well as what's coming in for this month.
Haul for June:
Solstice Scents - Full sizes of Blossom Jam Tea Cakes, Maine Moon, Chantilly Cream, and Attic. Burnishing glace in Chiffon. Free sample here was Library.
Solstice Scents - Yes, more. I separated these from above because they were separate orders. 10ml roller of Spellbound Woods from a Reddit user.
Solstice Scents - Gibbon's Boarding School. Free sample of Master Bedroom.
Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - Miskatonic University, O, and Serving Fish, bought from a lovely soul on FB.
Blooddrop - Drive In Movie (a BPAL.org purchase)
Solstice Scents - 10ml rollers of Travelers and Witch's Cottage
NAVA - Carnival Arcane (a FB purchase).
I sold Attic to someone on FB pretty quickly. Maine Moon I ended up swapping for Haus Amber by Haus of Gloi. And Blossom Jam Tea Cakes was just sold. Lastly, I sold Coma Cluster to someone on Reddit because I just didn't like it.
Total Spent: $213.47
May: Well, I obtained quite a few items here, including some 10ml Solstice Scents rollers (Chiffon and Outpost), Snake Oil, and a few BPALs I had been in search of (Streets of Detroit and The Worst Pillow). I also sold a few things as well. Total Spent: $96.50
April This month was the best month for me so far in terms of spending. I was awaiting spring releases, and generally was just kind of poor for the month and nothing was really catching my eye. Unfortunately, during this time I started surfing the BPAL forums and began developing working knowledge of the BPAL notes that would be good for (which probably led to my purchases in May). The only major order was my Conjure Oils order. Total spent: $45.49
March This month, I bought some BPAL from New York's Gothic Renaissance. Arcana had a sale, I impulse-bought something from NAVA because I was having a crappy time, and really I just went kind of crazy with buying things. Total spent: $222.92
February Ah February… the month of buying stuff from the Rhinestone Housewife. I guess this is where my Arcana love began. I ended up getting Little Man in the Boat and Vanilla Craves Bread because it was restocked. I didn't do too badly because honestly since I'm not into chocolate perfumes, a lot of the Valentine's Day stuff doesn't appeal to me. Total spent: $133.50
January Enter the Christmas money spending sprees and random pickups. I bought more stuff from Solstice Scents, a large Solstice Scents sampler from someone on Facebook. I sold Buttered Rum Mallow because it was gross on my skin. I ordered Sixteen92 Resurrection stuff (impulse), etc etc. Still, I managed to sell some stuff for the first time to sort of offset this spending. $130.47
Grand total for the year to date: $917.85
So… yeah. It's slowly gotten more out of control. Especially this past month. The good news is that I don't really care for many of the summer releases coming out. Florals and berry scents are rarely my cup o' tea (and neither are tea scents).
The bad news is that now that I can go through my collection more deliberately, I'm finding full sizes of things that I want to buy. There are also some classic fragrances that I do not have that I want to purchase samples or full sizes of…for instance, Vanilla Craves Terror or Holy Terror from Arcana.
The good news is that I'm entering a new phase of my life in a week or two, and so I will be pretty busy and unable to check the IMAM forums and such during the day. It will be hard for me, honestly, because it's been so habitual for a few years now, but I think ultimately my wallet will thank me. Also, my perfume collection is large enough to be respectable now, and so I do not feel as strong of a need many times to grab up all the samples.
I recognize my buying habits come out of boredom, or hype. Cutting back on Reddit will help with that. I will still definitely review what I get since I'm sooo behind on those that I could probably stop buying perfume completely, and MAYBE finish my reviews by the end of the year.
But yeah. There you go. I buy a lot of perfume. I have a lot of perfume. But my nose is more refined now, and I really enjoy this hobby and the community. It will be interesting to see what the next six months hold!
