My Textbook is a Delight (part 3) and Apparently Full of Sailing Ship References
In reference to the Monroe Doctrine.
American Civil War
In context of America buying Alaska from the tsar of Russia in 1867. Not really nautical, but I appreciate that Alaska was called "Walrussia".
This one's about Republican Speaker of the House Thomas B. Reed of Maine in the late 19th century.
This is in reference to John D. Rockefeller of the Gilded Age (late 19th century America). The part about being "windward of the law" adds so much to this sentence if one knows exactly the advantages of the weather-gage: it explains how he controlled law in choosing to ignore or not (i.e. perusing chase of the leeward ship or not), and had an overall advantage above the law.
Regarding the American Industrial Revolution.
Fairly self-explanatory.
In reference to the American Industrial Revolution in comparison to galleys of the Roman Empire.
In reference to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution in relation to religion and apparently that religions are ships moored somewhere.
In regards to the Populist political party merging with the Democrats in the presidential election of 1896.

I would have calmly continued my night cause temporarily I had forgotten about that post. But now I have to think about it. thanks, i guess
here, forget about the yeast post and take this cute headcanon:
kageyama’s secret hobby is making ricotta cheese. sure, it’s a pretty simple process, but he feels like he’s perfected it at this point. there’s something comforting about making his own food. he’s proud of it- but he would never tell anyone else about it.
he just thinks there’s nothing better than homemade cheese spread across fresh bread. he hasn’t QUITE perfected his sourdough (the yeast keeps dying on him because he forgets to feed it) but he’s getting close.
Virginia stands in the kitchen over the bodies of those crushed beneath her jar. She stands victorious, but at what cost? All her friends, lost in a see of soap, water, in butter. At least she has her weekly feeding of filtered water and King Arthur’s Whole Grain Flour to keep her company.
“They were weak anyways.”
Punk In Drublic by Stone Brewing Co.
Punk In Drublic is a series of punk rock and craft beer festivals happening around the country. Unfortunately, the Austin stop on the tour got cancelled for reasons unknown to me. This beer though was created by Stone and the band NOFX in conjunction with the festival tour. This is actually exactly the kind of beer I like to drink at concerts. It’s light enough to not fill you up or get you drunk too quickly but also has some flavor and substance to it. Punk In Drublic definitely has a German characteristic in its malt profile (bready and yeasty with a hint of sweetness). The finish has a hoppy bitterness that lingers. I do wish that the balance was a little better though.
Last one of this spring-floral series at the #keukenhofgardens. With another triple beer, this time a Gebrouwen door #vrouwen #Tricky #Tripel, a local #brewery from Amsterdam. . . . #cherryblossom #sakura #cherrytree #springflowers #primavera #keukenhof #gardens #japanese #japanesegarden #japan #nipon #sakuras #triplebeer #yeasty (at Keukenhof)
