LEE HANGYUL ; PURE CONCEPT for SUPERSTAR ROYAL AUDITION !
hangyul almost marks the email as spam. almost. he doesn't know what stops him from doing so, but after a moment of deliberation based solely on the title of the email, he opens it and reads through its contents.
superstar royal... what is that?
dance monkey, dance.
@yejirk
freestyle hip-hop dance workshop, dated may 29th, 2020.
there's about an hour between the two classes he had signed up for. this morning, hangyul had expected that he would be bored during that time, thought that maybe he'd ask to meet up with yeji before the second class that she had convinced him to accompany her to. now, he was glad he had done no such thing.
for most of the hour, hangyul was cooped up in the men's washroom. he was hunched over the sink, gripping the counters as water dripped from his chin. it felt like no matter how many times he splashed his face, or took calming deep breaths, or slapped his cheeks to get it together, his face was still the reddest he had ever seen it. every few seconds, he just kept thinking about chojin—her cute smile, the way she interacted with everyone in the class, how he'd missed his chance to get a picture with one of the prettiest girls he had ever laid eyes on. fuck.
his face is somehow still burning when he leaves for the hip hop class. hangyul keeps his head down as he manoeuvres the hallways, bumping into the odd stranger if they don’t skirt around him. when he finally meets yeji at their pre-determined spot and they head for the class together, hangyul remains completely silent the whole way, his eyes fixed on his shoes.
it's only when the instructors introduce themselves and inform them on what the class will be doing for the next two hours (two hours?!), he begins to grumble immediately to the girl beside him. "why did i let you bring me here... hwang yeji... i don't know how to dance!" the perpetual chojin-blush on his cheeks has faded into one that stems from a mixture of fear and irritation. he grips yeji's wrist, as if that'll fix everything. or maybe he's getting his revenge for all that she's put him through (is he still annoyed by the whole superstar royal thing? yes). "let's be in the same group later and you can do all the choreography. as for right now, well, how the hell did that idol guy move like that?"

on any normal occasion, nayeon wouldn’t find it hard for herself to make such a simple decision, especially when the options being presented didn’t seem overly difficult in comparison to one another. really, she was always a fan of choice— who wasn’t? now, however, she finds herself at a stalemate with her own wants. everything seemed like it would be a great deal of fun!
relief comes in the form of yeji, a friendly face she hasn’t been able to see in over a month now, and nayeon finds herself bouncing her way towards the younger girl with a pleasant smile and a brightening demeanor. “long time no see, stranger!” her voice is light, giggles under toning her words, no hesitation holding her back from grasping yejis hand in her own to catch more of her attention. while it may be surprising despite having been able to meet up for a little around a month ago, nayeon hopes its a happy surprise. “have an idea of what you’ll do today?”

it’s been a while since he’s hung out with his cousin outside of the trc building. he figures that she probably gets enough of him within those walls, seeing as how they’re there almost 24/7 and so he doesn’t invite her over or out as often as he would like. after their conversation in the recording studio, though, about their mothers’ and grandmother’s cooking, he can’t help but to have her over on a saturday night so that he can cook for her. sure, he’s not quite at their level yet (and he doubts he ever will be; that’s just how highly he regards their cooking), but he’s pretty good, if he may say so himself. plus, it’s been a minute since he’s prepared a full course meal for someone that wasn’t himself, his girlfriend, or the new trainees.
finding the time was probably the hardest part of it, between training and socializing and the other commitments he tried to regularly keep up, he barely found time for himself as it was, let alone enough to go grocery shopping, prep and cook food, as well as clean his apartment to make it look presentable for guests. it’ll all be worth all of the effort, though, if yeji enjoys the food he’s made.
“hey, i forgot, do you like egg in your doenjang jjigae?” he asks from the stove, turning to look at his cousin as he stirs the aforementioned soup in the pot. it’s just the start of the things he’s prepared for tonight---and honestly, he might have prepared too much---and he wants to make sure it suits her taste. “or would you rather have without?”

pj tapped his foot restlessly on the ground as he studied the menu, somehow having no idea what to eat despite having been here several times in the past. each time his eyes glanced over an item on the menu, he immediately lost interest, perhaps due to the overwhelming number of things that had been on his mind for most of the day. “hmm,” he hummed aloud, frowning down at the menu as his indecisiveness continued to power over him. why did it feel like there were so many options?
“i don’t know what i want,” he admitted, lifting his gaze to meet yeji as he offered her an amused grin. pj was glad that yeji was here with him, given that she was becoming one of the few people that he felt he could really trust to be there for him. he hadn’t expected a lot when he came back to seoul—their moms were friends, but that didn’t necessarily mean that they would be friends. as time went on, however, he was glad that they had had the chance to get closer. “mm, or maybe i just want too much? this menu’s like... massive,” he exaggerated, exhaling dramatically as he dropped his menu onto the table. “what are you getting? i think you make good choices, so i’d rather trust your judgment than choose on my own.”

flower party
he isn’t too sure of how he got one on his own. in passing makes sense but you’d think he’d remember when someone handed him a lei. did he accept one earlier? did he take it from chanyeol who got it somehow? yeah, that seems most likely to be honest. either way, the colorful flowers of the lei are more realistic than the ones he used to see as a kid. looks fancier too and odds are he shouldn’t just randomly have it. hell, he wonders if someone brought it in particular for someone else.
if he could, he would’ve done that for naeun but distance is needed and he can’t risk it as much as he did before, not when he got tied to a royal girl before and it hits a little too close to home.
debating looking for chanyeol again, which wouldn’t be hard considering he’s got ‘bruce,’ minho changes his mind once he spots yeji, walking up to her with a wave in greeting. “hey! so, i’ve given you flowers before but... want this lei? i think it’d look much better on you.”
