May Trope Mayhem Day 15: Character is a sex worker

She was the sun, light shining bright on those who watched her. Her smile was the burning fire that inspired people to write poetry on the divine. One couldn't look away from the way Sasha Colby moved on a stage, alight in the darkness shining like diamonds.

Or that was how Anetra would describe her, should anyone ask. From the very first time she laid eyes on her, she was hooked, unable to escape her thrall. And God, the way her voice rang through her chest when she thanked her for the generous tip Anetra had left her that night, all those months ago.

Now, Anetra's bank account was nearing empty, while her heart was in a surplus. Silly, really. Sasha hadn't paid her much mind aside from giving her a couple more minutes in the private rooms for free. It didn't mean anything. She was merely rewarding her best customer. But to Anetra, it meant the world.

Her friends were worried about her too, and why wouldn't they be? Anetra barely saw them anymore, always with a flimsy excuse that she needed to do overtime or that her family needed her. The first a half truth, the second a complete fabrication. She needed them off her back for whatever the fuck she was doing. Without talking to them, Anetra had no problem imagining Luxx staging an intervention for her problem.

As if Anetra didn't know this wasn't healthy. There weren't any real feelings there beyond dollar bills and shitty booze. There never would be.

Still, Anetra looked up at the stage for her sun as she absentmindedly counted the money she had left in her wallet. Five $20 bills and some change. Just barely enough. With ten days until payday, ramen noodles would have to do. She tucked her wallet back into her pocket. She had a show to catch.

"You're doing it again." Precious taps Viñas' shoulder to get her attention. "She'll notice, you know. You aren't exactly what they call smooth."

Viñas turned her attention towards her old friend, still keeping half an eye on the stage. She wouldn't miss even a second of Brigiding's show.

"I'm not doing anything," Viñas vehemently denies. As long as she told herself that, it'd have to be true. She was here to support her friend, nothing more.

"Why don't you talk to her tonight, hear if she'd like to do something."

Viñas mulled over the decision. On the one hand, it had been much too long since they last had hung out at either of their places. But on the other, there was the state of her friend's relationship. Getting involved in that mess wasn't the most appealing of options.

"I don't know. I wouldn't want to take time away from you two."

Precious pinched her cheek teasingly. Sometimes Viñas could be a hard ass when it came to pursuing her own happiness. "Don't worry about it. I'll even watch if it makes you feel better."

Viñas looked at her with a soft expression, Precious was all smiles. She was serious.

"I'll talk with her. Come on, don't you want to?"

Precious' offer tempted Viñas. She could have what she wanted, right here and right now, if she agreed. Her friend had a way with words. She could convince anyone of anything. Even getting her friend with benefits to agree to a ménage à trois.

In the midst of her inner battle, the song had changed, and Brigiding had left the stage to join them at their table. Still high off the endorphins of the performance, Brigiding beamed at her friends.

"Hi guys, what are you talking about?" Brigiding asked, breaking the silence between them.

"Just how we're both crashing at your place afterwards. You don't mind." Precious wasn't asking for permission.

"Oh uh. Yeah. Sure." Brigiding's mind had to play catchup to the conversation she hadn't been a part of. Her eyes flitted between them, taking them in.

A demand. Precious usually didn't do those unless she was in the mood to exhaust her all throughout the night. And with Viñas too, nonetheless. She'd have to enquire later how Precious got her to agree to that.

Brigiding couldn't contain herself. She took Viñas' hands in hers to shake them excitedly. Her smile turned bright, she couldn't keep it contained. "You're coming with us?"

"Yes?" Viñas answered, her voice raised as if it had been a question.

"Oh, great. I should probably get changed then. Or not, if you want us to do it while I'm still in drag. It would be a mess though. But you already know how that is." Brigiding rambled, laughing nervously at her own joke. That darn smile never left her face once. The only change had been the hint of rose on her cheeks.

"Let's go home," Precious said, getting up and dusting herself off.

They had a long night in front of them if things went her way. And Viñas would owe her the favour of the century for arranging it.

Okay I have questions about Anetra and her band of performers. What's the style there? Dancers and musicians? Magic tricksters? Any pickpocketers? And what's their relationship to the city's guard? Are they kicked out from the premises of the castle, or are they a bit elevated to the point where they can perform for reach people?

They're a travelling bunch of performers. Over the years, they know when to skip to the next town. So I guess in that sense, they know when to be quiet and when to be loud. Just enough that the guards won't hunt them down to put them in the dungeons for causing a disturbance.

All of them are skilled in both music and dance, the long hours on the road are an excellent time to practice their instruments.

There's Luxx who plays the harp. It's mighty difficult to grab and go, but Luxx always manages to charm someone into doing it for her. And while it hasn't been necessary, she always carries a dagger with her. Just in case she needs to liberate someone of their money.

Loosey is the more traditional bard with a lyre. She'll strum the strings and sing of legends, whether it be sun or rain. It's usually her that deals with the innkeepers in each town. She drives a good bargain with the promise that patrons will put more money into the inn's hands.

Mistress plays the drums – whenever she isn't busy beating the locals in a game of cards. She's honest, she swears. Honest about wanting their gold, that is. She makes sure they always have something to eat, no matter the circumstances.

Anetra is a dancer, first and foremost, but she also knows how to use a flute. Light on her feet, she can sneak in anywhere she pleases without being detected.

Robin is a banshee. She tends to the horses and gets the merry band wherever they need to be. For the most part she keeps to herself, quietly observing everything around her. Before Robin travelled with them, she used to keep a merchant company on the long roads, doing the same for them as she is now.

That's the main roster, at least. Sometimes they pick up stragglers for a town or two – until they get enough of the lifestyle and settle somewhere along the way.

Okay, so, I finally got around to this. And you certainly don't make it easy on me with that one, but I'll do it anyways.

Camgeria are those two lesbians that are so clearly into eachother, flirting at any opportune moment, but still holding back – what if she was just being nice? That kind of vibe. They can listen to the other person talk for hours about nothing, yet still find it the most interesting thing they've ever heard.

im gonna be self indulgent and ask for lemyanka with "did it hurt?" or "why are you covered in dirt?"

Did I add a horse for no reason? Yes I did. But we all get to be self indulgent sometimes.

"Did it hurt?" Lemon asked, concerned for her friend that had just taken a fall off her horse.

"When I fell down from Heaven?" Priyanka rubbed her head, and upon finding that her helmet was in the way, took it off to sling it to the ground. "Real original, but I'm afraid I have a girlfriend."

Her comment made Lemon snort. So that's where she was. If it hadn't been for the way Priyanka said it, she would have been seriously worried about her. From the looks of it, Priyanka had just gotten a good bruise on her ego and a good amount of scrapes on her skin.

"And I'm sure she's lovely, now, do you need help getting up?" Lemon asked, putting out her arm.

Slightly disoriented, Priyanka accepted the hand Lemon offered to get up. Her entire body was screaming at her. She clung onto Lemon for dear life, unsure on her legs as she was standing upright.

"Thank you," Priyanka smiled for the first time since the accident. "But now I must be going." Letting go, she staggered a couple steps before Lemon had to catch her.

"Careful there."

"Really, I'm fine," were Priyanka's last words before she got this green look in her face, retching out the contents of her stomach.

As gross as it was, Lemon didn't stop holding onto Priyanka.

"Maybe let's get you to the hospital. I think you might have a concussion."
