It could be the struggle of a web series having this kind of format. We don’t really see outside Laura’s webcam, thus making it very inconvenient for us to fully understand the external factors, as most of them are mentioned only in passing. Maybe everything will fall into place? As difficult it is to imagine that, I am still hoping for the best.

To be honest, if the format is inconvenient for us, that’s also a problem of the creators. I suppose the main idea behind Carmilla is reaching as much viewers as possible in order to achieve its purpose (being a good marketing strategy for U by Kotex), so if the format is a problem in itself, you just shouldn’t use it. Using a V-log format has its inconveniences, so they should just work around them and still tell the story, a good story at that, being aware of the disadvantages.

Also, the problem of mentioning problems only in passing comes with the writing. If it’s something irrelevant then it’s ok. That way viewers know it was a line or obstacle said in the moment as a comic relief or something like it. But when you solve your cliffhangers in passing, that’s just bad writing. An example of this is how they just decided to develop further why Carmilla didn’t die after using the blade of Hastur by the means of tweets in social media.

I still had hope until episode 28. But episode 29 was just so disappointing, that I don’t know if I’ll keep watching past the season finale.
