guys i have a vision based on the song forwards beckon rebound and the fact that you can mishear the first line as "hope is a dead sea, keeping you company, thinking i'm not afraid of you now, i'm not afraid of you now" and this is how i interpret it okay okay hear me out on this one hear me out stay with me stay with me

first off, the dead sea gets it's name from the fact that it's got such a high salinity level it physically can't support most forms of life. it's practically barren except for some bacteria, algae, and single cell organisms, because that's the only stuff that can survive there.

now, hope is a really complex thing to me. when you have nothing else to hold on to, you can have hope. but at the same time, it hurts to hold on so tight. it's so hard to sink your nails in deep and cling on to hope when you have nothing left and you know you could let go. hope can coexist with everything, hope can be a lonely, lonely thing, hope can be found as easy as it is lost. hope means something different to every person you ask, but no matter what it's always there. everyone has experienced it at some point, and it is, in my opinion, one of the most human emotions one can have.

hope is a dead sea because it's such a hard thing to hold on to, a hard thing to conceptualize, a hard thing to describe because it's a different thing for every person. it's hard to survive in a dead sea, it's hard to cling to hope when it feels so worthless to do so. but as long as you hold onto it, it will hold on to you. it will keep you company. hope isn't afraid of you, because it's comfort. at the base of everything, to hope is to dream, and to dream is to look upwards and onwards.

it may be barren, and it may be lonely, but it's there, if you know how to look for it.
