I wrote a fic for you!! Mind you it’s my first time writing fic in general so I hope you enjoy it!! I’ll send you some AUs and headcanons later in the day but for now enjoy this!!
I didnt have a title for it either so I’ll just call it “Sleepover”
You had been joking when you threw the idea out in the open. “What if we threw a huge sleepover, just the two of us?” It was lunch then, and you and Jolyne were seated at your usual table as groups of your peers chattered around you. She had been playing with her food and beamed up once the words left your mouth. “You really mean that?”
Now it was Saturday, and Jolyne had promised to be at your door around 4 to help get whatever you two wanted for the duration of the night. You sat in your room, a notepad and laptop open. You looked into possible movies to watch, fun games the two of you could play with each other and wrote down what you might need as the evening progresses. Even so, you were a tad nervous. What if I end up boring her? What if she decides to leave early? I’m not going to be that great of company anyway. What the hell do you even do at sleepovers?? As these thoughts spun around your head you heard your doorbell ring a familiar chime.
Ding-dong~!
Well, here goes nothing. You gulped and made your way to the door. Decked out as if she were ready for war was Jolyne who enthusiastically hugged you as she made her way into the house. Your parents were out of town and had promised you two free reign of the house so long as you cleaned up any mess that you started. You watched as your closest friend placed her bag down by the couch in the living room, taking in the surroundings around her.
“This is where you live?” She pondered as her gaze shifted. You felt as if she was silently judging you.
“Your house is beautiful.” Jolene looked back at you and smiled. She then clapped her hands together. “What’s the plan?”
“I figured we could go grab some snacks, a movie or two, and then come back and get the party started! You both giggled. “Sound good?”
“Let’s do it!”
You grabbed your parent’s car keys off the counter and motioned Jol to follow you outside. Entering the driver’s seat and double checking you had everything you turned the ignition and switched into reverse. You didn’t move anywhere though, eyeing Jol as she obliviously stared out into space.
A loud “A-HEM!” from you broke the silence
“What?”
“A-HEM MMM MMM.” Your eyes darted around her, neck nudging at something that should be around her.
“Oh!” She snapped her seatbelt into place, “Y’know you could’ve just said something.”
Yeah, but what fun would there be in doing that? A faint smile arose from your lips as you turned the radio on and pulled out from the driveway.
You had 6 different movies in your hands, each guaranteeing nights to remember. While you wanted to watch one of the newer blockbusters that had come out a few months prior, you practically heard the tacky and romance movies calling out to you. Jolyne wasn’t much help either as she was fighting her own thoughts with five other movies picked out.
An intercom buzzed.
“Attention shoppers. The store will be closing in 20 minutes! Please bring up any movies for rentals in the next 5 minutes!”
“My parents are gonna freak out when they see me!”
“They’ll get over it. It’s just hair dye; it’ll fade out.”
Jolyne was picking out between colored hair dyes as you nagged over her shoulder. While you trusted whatever colors she picked out, what you didn’t trust was how your parents would react when they saw you that Monday morning.
You and Jol were sprawled on your couch, engrossed in the horrid CGI of the action film you had picked out. Why the hell did you think renting this movie was a good idea?
Silence coated the room as one of the supporting characters was mauled by flying sharks. Not like that character mattered though, none of them were really that characterized. And it’s not like you were gonna miss them.
“I can’t believe they killed them off! Of course, kill the character that’s contributing the most. PSH.” Jol waved a dismissive hand motion to the screen as she grabbed another chocolate off the table.
“You gotta stay still while I apply this!” She snarled at you as she dipped her brush into bleach mix.
You were laughing uncontrollably. Neither of you had anticipated that you’d actually be somewhat ticklish as your friend painted your hair for the eventual dye that was to come.
“I-I’m sorry! It’s just when you move the brush around, it’s just so weird!” You began to laugh again as she went back in, navigating your locks with undeniable precision.
“I can’t wait to hold your hair in the tub after this.”
You didn’t complain; you were in your own world of pure happiness.
Now the two of you were laying on your bed, staring at the ceiling as your favorite songs played in the background. The two of you were laying opposite of the other, with your locks tangled and mixed between the two of you. Your attention shifted as you noted your new green streaks: a bright lime green that Jolyne muttered suited you. When you first saw it in the mirror you were awestruck at how lively it looked and couldn’t stop smiling for the next hour, making sure to stop in every reflection to take a better look at yourself.
“Hey, _____?”
Yeah Jol?”
“Why are there butterflies painted on your ceiling?”
“They’re not painted, they’re stickers. When I was younger I was scared of the dark and so one day my dad came in and placed these glow up stickers all over. They’ve mostly faded out now though, but sometimes I can still see the colors vividly just before I fall asleep.” Your eyes darted across, looking for one butterfly in particular. As you found it you tapped her lightly on the shoulder and pointed. “That one over there, the blue and yellow one? That one was always my favorite.”
She silently nodded. The walls vibrated as the songs changed from an edgy tune to an ambient, light-hearted mix.
You closed your eyes and breathed in softly. You felt a twinge of sleepiness as your mind began to free itself from the everyday thoughts and sensations. Had it not been for a shift in the mattress you would’ve dosed off right there. Looking around Jol had now found herself in front of a closet. She opened the door and shuffled some hanged clothes around.
“Hey, we’re around the same size! You mind if I try on some clothes?” She held a simplistic black dress in front of her, one of your favorites.
You turned to face her, your bangs falling in front of your eyes for a quick second. Brushing them off you smiled.
