Cyrus has never been a man who thought about romance so much as an average person. Being tasked with expeditions, missions, and such as a knight certainly proved to be a good distraction from those kinds of things. He's never thought about it during his knighthood up until now, and he probably preferred it that way – less distractions and more time to focus on his job and hobbies. Though when was there ever a time fate played along with someone's wishes? Cyrus would soon feel it toying with him once it adds another person into his life.
He never thought love could feel so warm and tender. It was very much unlike the countless nights he spent alone during expeditions where the cold would bite the tip of his fingers and give him frostbite. It was soft and gave him a warm feeling that blossomed in his chest; just like the first snow of a winter day. It was when he discovered how love can be so comforting that he decided to protect the one he puts closest to his heart. And, of course, you were that someone he was determined to protect from all the evil in the world. He would put himself in harm's way just to protect you – he'll go over and beyond, even.
Devoted; that was the one word someone could use to describe him. Unwavering loyalty and an abundance of faithfulness. There will never come a day when he would tear your heart apart, not when he cherishes it so preciously like fragile glass amidst a sea of fire. His touch was like lingering truths that begged to be said, a string of yearning words he couldn't bring himself to tell you face to face. It was alright, though. He was always more of someone that liked to present his feelings through actions, he was never one who matched well with flowery words unlike his brother.
A ring to remind him of his promise; his oath to you. He stared at the silver metal wrapped around his gloved finger, thinking of you just moments before the captain gave out the order to move out – he paused. He lifted his hand and brought it closer to his face, and his lips were barely ghosting over the ring as he closed his eyes. He pressed a gentle kiss, yearning and wishing to see you once more after this mission. His oath to you stayed closer than ever in his heart.
