First camping festival of the year. I was ready to go. I hit the road and 4 trains, 5 hours and a taxi later I was making my way into Y Not Festival 2014. This is new for me i've never been to this festival but I've always admired there line up so I decided to make the trip. Day one I started off slowly with Flyte who came on pretty much halfway through their set due to technical difficulties however, a great, polished off, all round band. I hope to see more of them and better sound tech. Circa Waves up next rearing to go it seemed that not many others were.... Such a bouncy melodic band yet the crowds energy was disappointing. As the weekend went on I started to realise the crowds were not at all as energetic as they should of been. With hugely talented bands such as White Lies, Spector, De La Soul, Palma Violets, The Fratellis and so many other bands to be discovered. Atmosphere was not up to par. My favourite set of the weekend has got to be Catfish and The Bottlemen Saturday evening, with the mosh pit constantly going and everyone slipping and sliding in the pools of mud people seemed so much more up for it. How it should be. De La Soul also got me bouncing, they woke up the almost dead audience on the Sunday evening with their old school hip hop sound. All in all Y Not is a great place for brewing new talent, and for the amount you pay for a ticket it's definitely worth your money. Night raves were spot on. Several tents going on with different things happening all over the site until the early hours of the morning.
