🎉Super big YES to this🎉- we need to share more concepts, information and skills- specifically skills that our students can apply in real life- ( that whole idea of...we dont practice yoga to get better at yoga - we practice to get better at life ). Yoga philosophy can be overwhelming and can sometimes feel like it doesnt apply to the modern world (brahmacharya= celibacy 😳) BUT there is a way that we as teachers can give our students bite size pieces of info, updated for application in our lives with each class. Over time this will accumulate to this vast toolbox of skills that they can use. 🔨🔧This was one of the reasons i started theming my classes, creating visual aides (the white board i carry around #yogaboard) and doing multi-week themes to dive deeper into concepts. I pull this theme into what we are doing on the mat to create an opportunity to start applying the skill & then leave my students with a concept to take with them as homework. I call this the #yogafocusmethod because my class is called #yogafocus ,it focuses on one concept & who couldnt use a little more FOCUS?? Bottom line...be a TEACHER not just someone that guides people through a list of poses #beateacher #yoga #yogateacher #yogafocus #focus #teachertraining #notjustasana #beyondasana #lauragyoga #repost @yogaphysics (at Galloway, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsrhATGA-6G/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=j6iptxo8kzmh
