Happy Odaiba memorial day to all my fellow digidestined all around the world!
How are you all gonna spend this day? My summer vacation finally started and I can't wait to use some of my free time to draw! I really hope to keep this blog a bit more active, the past months had been so tough. Even if I really had a few time, I wanted to make a new art for this special day, and I got inspired by a new series of figures of the original digidestined (Yeah, I kinda wished a Miyako one existed) and here it is! I often get a lot of inspiration from the official art and merch. Drawing this one thought, I realised I had never draw Miyako with her amazing digiworld outfit before... and isn't this the perfect day for this outfit?!

I used to be part of an old forum when I was younger and I remember people often poking fun of Yolei's wardrobe. It was just a light tease, nothing serious, then part 2 of Xros Wars happened and Nene's new outfit suddenly blew her out of competition. Vindicated by history, I guess. Also, the animation style of a few episodes didn't make her any favors.
Digiposting… Because I Can
Since the convo is pretty fresh on my mind, I thought I’d yap about Digimon for a bit. I’ve watched almost all the Digimon series, minus some movies and newer shows, but I enjoy it.
My favorite Digimon is the one that kinda got me into Digimon as a whole, which was Digimon Fusion. Somehow, I see a pattern with my interests, I seem to really like fusion mechanics in my TV, which is why I love Steven Universe, Yu-Gi-Oh GX, and Voltron (the Netflix one).
I haven’t seen the 3rd season of Digimon Fusion, which I’ll just dub as Xros Wars since it wasn’t available to me until more recently. I still haven’t watched it yet, I kinda glazed through it a little bit because at the time I was in a heavy Servamp and Soul Eater mood, so I wasn’t as interested.
I’ve seen Digimon, Digimon 02, Digimon Frontier, Digimon Tamers, Digimon Data Squad, a handful of Digimon Tri, and I’m kinda watching Beatbreak. For the most part my younger brother is crazy about it, I’m more of a casual enjoyer, but I like it way more than I do Pokemon.
I just like it when there is visible character growth, not just like, personality, but they get older and their views change too, Pokemon on the other hand feels kinda samey, but I like the Pokemon designs to a degree, I enjoy the games more than the show though.
Back on track! The Digimon I’ll be digi-discussing at the current moment is 02. I don’t really wanna go into an in depth yapping session like I did with Crow because 02 isn’t really a soft spot for me, it’s not a labor of love like my other interests, so I have less constructive things to say about the characters. I can give like, a quick rundown though.
I should say that this is all coming from the dub, and dub only. I haven’t seen subs for most of the Digimon I’ve watched, only some of Tri, all of Data Squad (the dub was absolutely ridiculous, like there was no need to make Ikuto sound like Tarzan when the digimon can speak in perfectly clear sentences, ESPECIALLY THE ONE WHO RAISED HIM???).
Davis:
The dub made him lowkey obnoxious, sometimes I couldn’t stand him lol
I will NEVER forgive nor FORGET the fucking Christmas party episode where they were suggesting games to play and his ass said, “How about strip poker?” THE FUCK?? YA’LL ARE LIKE 12 WITH A 9-YEAR-OLD
Other than that, he was pretty solid and dependable when he wasn’t being Davis

She made me lose it in 02, like genuinely I was annoyed by her consistently and CONSTANTLY
Her biggest offense to me though was how she treated Ken V. BlackWarGreymon, the digimon who was programmed to be pure evil, meanwhile Ken was possessed, he was barely in control of his own self??? She had more empathy for a Digimon who did not understand the capacity to be kind or gentle, than a hurt, manipulated, and quite literally POSSESSED BY FUCKING EVIL kid
Like WHAT?? Where is her heart??
Cody:
I don’t really have too much to say about him, he’s just a kid, more so than the rest of them, I have a neutral stance

Yolei:
I’m starting to notice a pattern here, and I wonder if it’s indicative of the times, but the girl characters seem to be more obnoxious than some of the boy characters, cause she’s so… so Yolei
For the most part, I understand that the whole not killing digimon thing is mostly an issue with the newer digidestined (those being Yolei herself, and Cody), but her stance on killing Digimon didn’t come from the goodness of her heart, but kicking Ken down (she said that she didn’t want to be like Digimon emperor, which, why say that?? She’s dangling his (Ken’s) progress over his head, why punch down????)
Meanwhile Cody and his apprehension towards killing digimon came from not wanting to harm another living creature, like, this has more empathy than she does
She has a hard time being empathetic is what I’m seeing, especially when it comes to Ken, and the harder morality issues she has to face
Yes, I understand not wanting to kill or harm living beings, but yelling at her partner for making the decision to SAVE HER instead of letting the opposing Digimon KILL HER was insane
She’s supposed to be the embodiment of sincerity, but her character does not align with that whatsoever
T.K:
He’s fine, his morals are where they should be, and he’s not dysfunctional like the rest (I mean Kari and Yolei, which again points to the woman bad type beat these kinda shows be on)
Ken:
I feel so bad for him
He’s basically trying to learn how to be Ken after the Digimon Emperor was defeated
This kid was a spare child after his brother died, and he had blamed himself for the death of his brother because he wished Sam would disappear so Ken could get attention and be praised like him
His parents didn’t see anything wrong with it until he was missing, then had amnesia, then they were understanding of how TERRIBLE they are, but that’s a later yap
My main beef with 02 has NOTHING to do with the characters, but the ending that it had.
First of all, I had never reeled back so hard than witnessing that crime of an ending. That shit was something I used to read on Wattpad as kid, hell, I probably wrote something just like that once upon a time ago.
Had they aged up the characters and did only that, then I would’ve been fine. But noooo, they’re married, they have kids, and the entire cul-de-sac IS IN THE FUCKING DIGITAL WORLD. My first grievance is the pairings.
They paired up some of the worst couples.
And Davis mitosed, sure.
Yolei and Ken have little to no chemistry, mind you, she was his biggest hater. I can’t. Me and my brother hate this pairing, especially since Yolei is so mean to him.
T.K and Kari make sense I suppose, Izzy and Mimi make sense, Sora and Matt… ok. I’m a firm believer in Tai/Sora/Matt, and my brother is too even though he isn’t a big shipper, he just knows. Jokes aside, when characters work together, he just knows. He doesn’t explicitly ship characters, he just sees that these have chemistry, they should be together and will work, and that’s that.
He has a ship that I wouldn’t say he likes in Kamen Rider Kuuga, but always tells me how GAY they are, and always refers to them as boyfriends, but I don’t think he cares that much (the pairing is Godai/Ichijo). Point is, if he sees it, it must be true.
He’s my little apprentice. Moving on.
The kids are so ugly, they’re just recolors of each one. And some hair changes. And that’s kind of it. It was just so jarring to see.
That and the huge plot hole with keeping the digital world a… hmmm, what was it again? Oh, that’s right, A FUCKING SECRET. NEVER MIND THAT STEVE AND SALLY HAVING PASSIONATE LOVE IN PARIS SAW THE BEAMS OF LIGHT FROM THE WINDOW. SANTA WAS A BETTER KEPT SECRET THE FUCK????
I’m tired, I can’t stand 02. You can tell I hate this shit more than YGO Arc V (I could keep going on that end too, don’t even get me started on the fuckass Arc V manga). Man, feels so good to get that off my chest :3, but I’m pretty sure the sub is leagues better, minus the ending, I’m just gonna pretend that never happened.
Why do all the Ship Wars concerning Mimi deal with what boy she should be? This girl belongs into the arms of another girl - no doubt about that. And if you ask me that other girl is our local bisexual disaster Miyako. I want them to kiss!
