🌿 Yockenthwaite Walk: From Buckden to Hubberholme via Cray and Yockenthwaite 🌿

👋 Hi all, hope you're well! I’ve just published a brand-new walk that starts right in the centre of Buckden village and takes you on an unforgettable journey through some of the most beautiful parts of the Yorkshire Dales. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

🌄 The walk begins by following A Pennine Journey to Cray, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside as you climb the hillside. From Cray, you’ll head past Scar House and through more beautiful countryside, with wooded areas and peaceful trails all the way to the charming hamlet of Yockenthwaite. 🌲🍂

🌾 After viewing the iconic stone bridge at Yockenthwaite, you’ll join the Dales Way, a riverside route along the banks of the River Wharfe, taking in lovely scenery as you make your way to Hubberholme. It’s a 7-mile circular walk with a moderate ascent, offering great views without tackling the very highest peaks. 🏞️

🌳 TV fans, take note! 🎥 Yockenthwaite and Hubberholme are both featured in All Creatures Great & Small. Yockenthwaite’s packhorse bridge and farm buildings have appeared in the series, while St Michael and All Angels Church in Hubberholme was the filming location for James Herriot and Helen Alderson’s wedding. ⛪

🌄 Discover a Beautiful Walk in Wensleydale

🚶‍♂️ Here's a fantastic 12-mile walk in the Wensleydale area of the Yorkshire Dales. This route starts in the heart of Hawes and passes the Wensleydale Creamery, leading to the charming village of Gayle. From there, it continues across the countryside to the equally picturesque village of Burtersett.

🌳 Next, tackle a steep ascent to Yorburgh for stunning views of Wensleydale. Follow a Roman road—yes, it's straight and long—to reach the village of Bainbridge and enjoy a beer at the Rose & Crown.

🌾 Head east through fields and along country lanes to the delightful hamlet of Sedbusk. Finally, return to Hawes to explore its wonderful shops, cafés, restaurants, and pubs.

🌲 Helmsley Circular Walk: A Serene Trek Through the North York Moors

🚶‍♂️ Last week, I had the pleasure of completing a circular walk in the Helmsley area, and I've just finished writing it up on my website! Starting in the market town of Helmsley, the trail took me through picturesque landscapes, including the woodlands of Ash Dale and Beck Dale.

🌳 A standout moment was walking through Collier Hag Wood – it was incredibly peaceful with vibrant green vegetation in full bloom. The entire walk spans about 8¼ miles and took me roughly 3¾ hours. If you try this walk, be sure to explore Helmsley’s charming town centre afterwards, filled with delightful shops, cafes, and restaurants.
