“Woodland”: blackberries on an autumn walk. With three purples and four greens, this is a complex and pretty colour that evokes the fall countryside. It’s on sock, sparkle, DK, and aran.
The Magpie Inkcap is a toxic mushroom found in deciduous woodlands, especially under beech and oak trees. Its cap is initially egg shaped before opening into a dark bell with white flakes resembling magpie plumage. The white gills turn black and deliquesce into ink, which was historically used for writing.
Part of the British Fungi on Bluefaced Leicester collection, this colourway is a @yorkshireyarnfest exclusive for the show this weekend.

The final mushroom colourway is, um, Wood Blewit again! It’s because I accidentally dyed it on merino/nylon instead of bluefaced leicester and then I thought it would be fun to redo it differently so one colourway represented the gills and another the cap. Photo two shows the latest batch of Turkey Tail, also dyed specially for @yorkshireyarnfest as it’s sold out again online.

Next up in the British Fungi on Bluefaced Leicester collection for @yorkshireyarnfest is Wood Blewit, an edible wild mushroom often found in leaf litter. Its cap is initially purple, turning more brown as it matures, and its gills are lilac. They thrive in woodlands and are sometimes found growing in “fairy rings.” yorkshireyarnfest.com

Autumn is “Cute Leaf Season” … a pretty mix of greens, vivid hues of gold, amber, orange, and russet festooning the trees and the woodland trail. It captures the fleeting natural colours of fall woods in permanent form, making it ideal for cozy, nature-inspired projects.
This is part of the Autumn Aran micro series for @yorkshireyarnfest and, in related news, I have dyed more Turkey Tail - one batch for online now and one batch for the show. I’ve also made some on DK, which has turned out more teal in colour.
