Mystery Girl
York X Reader
‘God I hatedances’ You thought to yourself, as you looked down at you (f/c) floor length dress. The outfit made you glare a little bit at it, even though you looked good you still hate wearing dresses.
You stepped out of the elevator that stopped at the fifth floor, which was the ball room. You walked slowly over to the top of the staircase were there you could see agents dancing around the place. It was a masquerade ball so everybody wore masks.
That was the only good thing about this ball, at least nobody could tell if you showed or not. Sliding on your (f/c) mask, that matched your dress, you looked around for only one certain person in this room. That certain person was Agent New York.
Of course trying to find York hidden behind a mask among others would be finding a needle in a hay stack, lucky for you; you overheard him tell Washington that he would be wearing a gold mask and a black tux, with a gold tie. Still, there was a lot of agents here in the large ball room and you were certain if you ever found him he’d be dancing or leaving.
Shaking off that thought you leaned against the stair balcony that overlooked the dance floor. You could see everybody dancing to a band that played elegant music, for agents everyone seemed calm and their guards were down for once.
With a sigh, you cast one final glance around the room before making you’re way down the staircase. Your fingers were grazing over the wooden railing as you were making your way down to the floor, when you FINALLY saw him standing there looking handsome behind his mask, and dressed sharply his appearance took your breath away. Something made him pull his gaze from the dancers, but when his eyes locked on you; it took him a few seconds not to have his jaw drop right there, in front of everyone, from the sight of you standing there looking stunning as always.
He excused himself from Wash and South, and made his way over to you. You looked away as you soon saw him walk over to you, a soft smirk placed upon his face as he sidled up to your side.Of course you pretended not to notice his appearance out of the corner of you’re eyes. You forced your gaze to stay forward watching the dancers for a few seconds until you turned your gaze towards York, who had a smile already on his face from underneath the gold mask of his.
“Well look who I’ve found a mysterious girl hiding behind a mask.” York shot a crooked smile at you making his eyes glint in just a hint of mischief, like that little spark of mischief never leaves his eyes. You smiled smoothly, just admiring his wonderful beauty from this close up. It literally killed you from just not leaning in and kissing those soft lips of his over and over again.
“Well care for this lock picker to dance with the mystery girl herself.” Your voice was changed just a little bit, so he couldn’t recognize you then he would figure out who you were; as well as avoid you all together if he was sorely disappointed in who you really were. Your hand raised just a little, offering it to him knowing he’d take it. York soon took your hand immediately as soon as it was raised in a silent question for him to answer.
The band soon started to play a beautiful, slow ballad as he lead you both to the middle of the dance floor. Taking your gloved hand in his, and simultaneously resting your free hand on his shoulder he wrapped his other hand around your small waist. Your skin warmed at just the touch of his hand underneath the floor length gown. Tiny pinpricks of wonderful electricity ran straight up into your brain, giving you just the dreamy-romantic feeling that made you almost melt into his rock hard chest.
Both of you glided across the floor ,as the agents stood back giving you both enough room to dance. York gently grabbed your one of your hands, he started to spin you slowly outwards; then started to pull you back to his side. You were pulled flush against him, his gaze staring down at you as your gaze was staring up at his. Your eyes were locked on each other, still gliding smoothly around in circles, he dipped you down at the end of the song.
Your hair brushing against the ground as his brown eyes were staring deep into your own.York leaned down his lips ghosting over your own lips that were curled in a shy smile. Before hesitating he pressed a sweet kiss on your lips, while he slowly pulled you up back on to your feet.
“Wow..” You said breathlessly as a smooth easy smile slid on York’s face. Unlike your face, which was turning a dark shade of red from the unexpected kiss.
“May I see who my mystery girl is now?” York asked, his voice filled with boyish curiosity, which made you smile shyly then you slipped the mask off your face; over your head.
York’s jaw dropped once he saw you, standing there with your cheeks still stained a light pink from the short kiss. “Well well well, I’d hope it would be you.” York said, a smile spreading on his face, as his eyes traced over the features of your face.
“I guess I’m your mystery girl.” You lightly teased him, as York chuckled softly then decided to dance with you on the last slow dance.
You guessed masquerade balls weren’t that bad after all.
