"Lee climbs in, Yamamoto lines and throws" LA's YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO and SF's LEE JUNGHOO. LAD vs. SFG, 12th MAY 2026

waitttt what thoughts about each other’s (yoshihoo) numbers? spilll
more on yoshihoo (and then i’ll be done, i think) number headcanons:
they’d have the other’s number stitched onto either their glove or their cleats. i’d imagine yoshi would go for the cleats (pitching glove is a little too important and he’s still, well, him) and junghoo would have it stitched onto his OF glove
getting the other’s numbers tattooed. yoshi is the only one i could see actually going for it, somewhere that is usually covered by his uniform (there’s no covering anything in locker room showers, fyi) and junghoo probably is the one nobody expects to get it done, and then he does so anyway. no one finds out until like five years later, or whatever, and yoshinobu is horribly, insanely smug about it for years and years, and he gets kind of lost just tracing the tattoo over and over and over, because he’s as obsessive as he is annoying
that said, junghoo is way more possessive. he loses it a little, to see the #51 on yoshi. even just his cleats, or his glove, or on a necklace. it doesn’t matter. drives him crazy. (yoshinobu knows that and uses it to his advantage)
they are both notoriously private, or at least tight lipped while overseas, so i think that it would be a subtle detail that simply holds a lot of meaning for either of them, and would actually be very much in line with baseball… styling.
I feel like Jung-hoo would also throw Yoshinobu over his shoulder when he’s extra annoying to shut him up…
my favorite thing to think about is junghoo, who has been media trained since before he was born basically, who’s been on korean talk shows and has weathered whatever they threw at him, who could tell you from, like, the top of his head about every match up between yoshi and him because he’s crazy like that, who’s so patient. who has survived hyeseong. who, really, is so insanely patient and gracious he’d make a grave look a mess. that guy, and yoshinobu is the one thing that pushes alllllll his buttons. and yoshinobu is such a brat, of course he’s loving this. he’s getting exactly what he wants out of this (annoying junghoo, riling him up, getting manhandled for how much trouble he is intentionally being). but junghoo’s patience runs thin, eventually, as it so ever does. what to do about that but throw that annoying little pitcher around. and also get vastly more creative to find a myriad of ways to shut yoshinobu up.
do you have any yoshihoo thoughts on your mind 🥺?
this message arriving in my inbox while i was literally finishing my korean assignment about yoshi... it was simply meant to be! do not worry, i always have yoshihoo thoughts on my mind. i mean, who doesn't?
YOSHIHOOOO!!!!!
Yoshi with his candid, fuckass photos on the spot in-between other pics from the team’s photographers vs Junghoo’s professional profile #aura as the kids say these says ❤️
the thing is, that technically at least one or two are, theoretically, their pinned post; yoshi definitely keeps his world series win pinned, but i’d love to imagine that he’d pin a picture of junghoo after they come out/if they are out, and i’d think that they’ve been with each for years at that point, that it just feels very satisfying to finally get to do it. i’d imagine him to post as rarely as he does these days, but during the off season there’s always one picture or two of junghoo in the photo dump.
vice versa, junghoo’s instagram is very curated because he’s simply grown up in the public eye so he’s a little more conscious of what he posts (funnily enough, his kiwoom era posts aren’t that curated but now that he’s in SF, he’s definitely posting less personal content); i think he’d share yoshinobu anyway, because it’s a huge part of his life and because he can.
yoshi kinda posts junghoo on his account like he shared carlos after a year and then some of having him. season is over and suddenly he begins posting and there’s a picture of junghoo when they saw each other during the giants series or wherever they meet up in the off season and everyone’s kinda like, right. these two are dating. there’s probably a picture of them just being next to each other or whatever that hyeseong has taken at some point, which is also kind of hysterical to me, because if they’d been seeing each other on an off for ages, yoshi would’ve known about hyeseong before he ever came to los angeles (so you know who rallied for him to come to los angeles).
but i’d also like to think that you scroll back on their accounts and see pictures someone else has taken, and only after they’ve come out it makes sense that the other is the one who’s taken it. an easter egg, if you will.
bonus: junghoo being at the WS wearing yoshi’s jersey. a boy can dream, right?

You were right about Junghoo wanting to pick Yoshi’s brain if they ever met!!
what did i say!!!!! LMAO!!!!! unsurprising as hell, i told you he’d needle hyeseong about yoshinobu. i told youuuuuuu ages ago. he’s not normal about yoshi, and i do not think he’s ever been, actually.
