My muse has left their old, brown leather book somewhere by accident. It looks like it’s seen years of wear and tear, and upon opening it your muse discovers that it’s full of wishes that never came true and times in their life when they were hurt/alone/sad. Send me a “✝” to read a wish or sad memory (specify which.) from the book.

00:00:00 ok I'm doing it you can't stop meeeeeeee
In a universe where everyone is born with numbers on their wrists counting down to when they’ll meet their soulmate, send me 00:00:00 for my muses reaction to their numbers hitting zero when they meet yours.
It was the first time Jericho hit him.
Jericho had always been the weakest in the family - physically; the medal for the weakest psyche went to Grant by a landslide - and for the longest time Slade would stomach nothing to do with the boy. He loved him, of course he did, but Slade was a bloodstained cutthroat mercenary and Jericho was… not.
Then he’d slipped up, let Jericho get hurt, and Adeline had hidden the boy away from him without any further ado. Addie. He loved her, too, but for all the effort they’d put into building a family together the pair had never been soulmates. They’d wanted it to be so, but there was still time left on both their wrists.
So Slade threw himself into other pursuits, new family ties. He stole and brainwashed other talented children to mould into his schemes, eager to find one to succeed him as his apprentice where his own offspring couldn’t. Jericho was too gentle, Grant’s heart had been in the right place but his head was useless.
Terra was promising, but weak. Robin was better, but while the Titans and the Batman lived Slade knew he would never truly have the young man’s loyalty. He’d lost his grip on him far too early - he’d have to think of better collateral next time if he wanted Robin back.
Jericho had joined the Titans along the way. Of course. Slade didn’t like the sound of that at all, but with even Rose slipped between his fingers to that group of brats now he figured he should check things out. Get his kid out of there if necessary, or at least see if they were treating him right. So he stalked them, caused disturbances and crimes and set up all sorts of traps leading the Titans - and his son - straight to him.
He’d coaxed and aggravated and threatened the group of teenagers and the city they fought to protect, and in the barrage of attacks which followed - deflect Starfire’s energy bolt, catch Robin’s kick, dodge Raven’s dark portals, break Cyborg’s wiring, block Beast Boy’s claws - he was surprised to find that one of the fists he caught easily belonged to his son.
Then a solid kick followed, using the leverage from Jericho’s trapped hand - he’d let himself be caught on purpose! - and Slade was sent stumbling back with a crack spidering out along the surface of his mask.
Red flashed on both their wrists; 00:00:00, and Slade’s visible eye widened as Jericho’s green irises filled with horror - and the boy made to bolt.
Oh no, he wasn’t having that. An unexpected flare sent from his belt blinded the core Titans, and in the resulting confusion Slade had a clear path to dart ahead, snatch up his son around the waist and make a break for it like a shadow. It helped a lot when one’s target couldn’t shout for help, no matter how much he twisted and kicked and even tried to bite. It felt practiced, like his son had been assaulted before, and Slade pushed the guilty feeling that he knew exactly when Jericho had been hurt to the back of his mind.
He’d felt it, that connection when Jericho had finally shown some of the animosity his family was infamous for, and knowing his son had developed into a person with that capability - as a superhero - had sealed the deal. He had wanted to keep the apprenticeship in the family line, anyway. It was why he’d gone after Rose, but oh, Jericho had been the one he’d wanted from the start. It had taken his son a while to blossom into the ideal partner, to begin to really tap into the potential Slade had always suspected the boy had, And if the universe said that now was the ideal time for them to reunite, Slade couldn’t argue with that, could he?
Blood was thicker than water - and in this society those little flashing numbers were a gut instinct, often stronger than what the heart thought it wanted. With this kind of connection it shouldn’t take much effort to make Jericho his apprentice or at least keep him to himself as his son; and if the boy protested too much… well, Slade still had a lot of that serum left.
Soulmates, eh? Slade mused, pressing hard into a nerve in the back of Jericho’s neck to placate the boy when he struggled and bit a little too hard for his father’s liking. Well, the Titans would have some peace from the mercenary for a while. He had a brand new project to work on.
He’d always known Joey Wilson was special.

youlookgoodindead replied to your post “You can’t fix this.”
He gave her a look that implied she was clearly deluding herself. "How, exactly, do you plan to do that?"
Jinx swallowed hard as she looked to the ground. She didn't know what she was going to do, she didn't know how to fix it.
"I'll figure it out." She spoke softly, doing her best to keep her voice even. "I can figure it out."
"You can’t fix this."
Sentence memes.
Jinx clenched her fists closed as she gritted her teeth slightly. There wasn't anything she hated more than being told she couldn't do something. She could feel her anger boiling over
"Don't tell me what I can and can't do!" She yelled out in anger, tears streaming down her face. When did she start crying? Why was she crying? She swallowed hard and unclenched her fist, her hands instantly going to he face.
"I'm going to fix this." She said as she wiped her face. "Do you hear me? I'm going to fix this."
If I were dating you we'd look over the wreckage of the world together~ Oh! Wait! We've already /done that one/. I suppose it's just as well. I'm too old for you anyway.
"I'm going to give you a five minute head start and then we're going to play out the events of my last birthday. Without the powers my father bestowed on you, I guarantee it won't end the same.
Happy birthday to me."
