Hey there, I'm a huge fan. I used to be quite the liberal in high school, but that completely changed once I started college and entered the real world. Do you have any advice for someone who is associates herself more with Conservative views but is stuck in a very very Liberal state? I have no fear of speaking out on here about my views, but it can be a little tricky in my college. I currently go to a community college and I'm planning to transfer to a UC. Also very left-leaning.

The thing that you have to understand about liberals is that they will attack your character over everything else. They call conservatives racist, sexist, homophobic, islamophobic, they say we hate the poor and that we are evil greedy stupid scumbags. They attack your character because it hits harder than an argument regarding positions, and lets be honest, the liberal argument falls apart more often than not when faced with actual facts and evidence. They attack character because they have to, and it works.
All this can be very overwhelming for some conservatives who don’t have the ability or experience to defend their views on such a thorough level, and it often gets them into trouble and makes us all look bad. Those character arguments are easily beaten if you know your stuff. For example, if you are against raising the minimum wage, you better be able to provide a thorough and educated reasoning as to why. Maybe quote some Friedman too, that kind of stuff. Go above and beyond.
Personally, I don’t voice any opinion unless I’m confident in my ability to defend every aspect of it, because it’s too risky for me. I try to think of every possible counterargument and how I would defeat it.
In the end, reality trumps everything else, and reality is on your side, as it has a conservative bias. I remember giving a speech at college about Israel to a bunch of people, many of whom were anti-zionist scum. After I explained the historical savagery of Palestinians as well as their current brutality alongside Hamas, they had nothing to say to be except that I liked dead children. (I mean, I got more compliments than haters, but the haters had no substance to their arguments) That’s how you know you’re right. :)
