Bracket Busted But Not Completly
So, did everyone watch the first two matches of the 2018 New Japan Cup? Well, I did and unfortunately, one of my picks was shown the door on the way out. Three of the four brackets (which you can click here to look at) had Tomohiro Ishii in the semi-finals while one had him winning the whole thing over Seiya Sanada of Los Ingobernables de Japon. But, with Ishii out, looks like I’ll have to go with the flow as the tournament continues.
Despite that information, I still have three predicted finals in place and they are (in pictured order):
Zack Sabre Jr (Suzuki-gun) vs. Taichi (Suzuki-gun)
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Seiya Sanada (Los Ingobernables de Japon)
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Zack Sabre Jr (Suzuki-gun)
If you notice, I have Hiroshi Tanahashi (despite him being booked for Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor XII which takes place six days after New Japan’s Sakura Genesis 2018) and Zack Sabre Jr. in two of my three finals in which the first one I have Zack, the second one Tanahashi, and the third one Zack. In other words, I have Zack Sabre Jr. going all the way to win the New Japan Cup this year while Tanahashi is my second pick.
Who did you guys pick to win the New Japan Cup? Did you pick Ishii like I did or did you pick someone else? Let me know and be sure to tune in for day two of the 2018 New Japan Cup tomorrow (March 10th) at 4 AM Eastern (6 PM Japan time) where the matches scheduled will be Bad Luck Fale facing Lance Archer and Hiroshi Tanahashi facing Taichi.
