Full day one with the new pump and I'm genuinely surprised by the stats. Obviously I need some time to bed it in, but:
Sugars have been 92% in range (high 80s/low 90s below 10 is fairly usual for a good day), 2% low which is better than yesterday's 10! Highest sugar was 11.7
Average sugar is 6.7mmol/L with the above in consideration (was 7.4ish on tandem)
My programmed basal insulin total was 31units in the tandem to reach 88%ish in range with an average sugar of 7.7. Today my basal has been 21.7units - a low I don't think I've ever seen while on a pump
Total insulin usage for today has been 37.2units, whereas on the tandem I was averaging about 56.
How the hell is this box achieving not just similar but BETTER results with less insulin? Magic? Maybe it's magic.
I don't wanna be premature, I'm aware it could still go tits up but if this is how good it is on day 2 of the system learning me, without me faffing with it (I'm a chronic med-tech faffer), and when I had massive amounts of carb for tea, I'm looking forward to what it could do for me in the future. As soon as it's used to me I'm going to drop my target from 5.5 to 5.0 (I put it up last night after 5 hypos in a row that I couldn't keep up) and try and get more time within the 4-7 range (my last check with clarity I was 55%ish, I'd like that to be in the 70s or 80s)
Go team ypso!
