sounds like a pulled muscle. alternate heat and cold (either heat/ice sprays or like hot water bottle/ice pack), get a massage in, and drink a shitton of water.

If you haven’t done anything that would make you pull a muscle, it sounds like a trapped nerve? I had a similar thing with my back it was awful and I think you’re meant to go to a physiotherapist but I just ignored it and after a few days it went

it sounds like a trapped nerve I get them all the time. If u can’t go to the doctor try some cocodomol (sp) to relax yr muscles (low dose if ye can take it)
i've been using hot water bottles every day n i drink lots of water anyway so i've got that covered. but ye defo not done anything that could pull a muscle except maybe hoovering and mopping when am helping mum?? but i'm p lazy so it's very gentle housework. trapped nerve maybe sounds more likely so i'll phone the docs tomorrow once i've mentally prepared myself. thank u all v much for the replies n advice :)))

yh he's only ever dyed it a couple of times and that was years ago like when he was in his mid twenties and his pals used to mock him. now he's just like meh and doesn't care enough to dye it but he's still a bit sensitive about it tho like if you take the piss out of him he'll get all quiet aha he's so cute
