Curious to hear, how would you improve Zhu Ran (Fire Attack one-dimension maniac) and make him more badass/human while still keeping his fire attack trait? It's kinda okay to have like a little habit or interest but it's really plain and lousy when a character only has to live with one repetitive trait.
As usual, I would draw inspiration from the historical Zhu Ran.
The historical Zhu Ran was a scholar as well as a warrior, a man of learning. He was also noted for being frugal and thrifty; the only money he spent on himself was to buy nice weapons and equipment. He was a big believer in self cultivation and was always trying to improve his mind and body. Furthermore, he was noted for being an extremely serious man at all times, one who always acted as though battle was about to begin - as a result, he was always ready for a fight and never caught off-guard. Zhu Ran was also a careful and cautious man who never bit off more than he could chew.
So, I’d make sure that Zhu Ran expressed such traits. At banquets or parties, he’d look around at all the finery and wealth and say that he didn’t think this was all necessary - though if gifted with a nice weapon or fancy armor, he would be suitably grateful. He’d ask the other generals how their studies and training were going and compare notes on progress, probably with a competitive streak to him. He’d always be working to do better the next time. He would rarely express much emotion, he’d never laugh at jokes, and he’d keep any sorrow he felt stashed away behind a calm exterior. If you wanted some comedic scenes, you could have parts where people tried to startle or surprise him and it got no reaction whatsoever. If you really wanted to keep the “fire attack” thing, maybe that’d be the only thing that got any sort of emotion out of him. Most of all, I’d make sure to emphasize the long, close friendship between him and Sun Quan, comparing it to that between Sun Ce and Zhou Yu. They were basically brothers and they should act like it. It could be very sweet to see Sun Quan eventually refer to Zhu Ran as, “the only family I have left.”
I think that’d be a lot better than “he likes fire.”
I find it really rare to see biographies of a 100 or 1000 known people in the same era (Talking about the 3K era ) whereas in other wars like World War 2 or the American revolution you only know the ones that contributed the most at that time. It's really surprising me the more I read it because I didn't expect myself to know this MANY people be it big or small. Isn't that something you would see 1 over a million when it comes to history?
Having so many famous figures so well-recorded is almost unique to the Three Kingdoms. It's mostly due to the biographical structure of the Sanguo Zhi. While subsequent histories have followed a similar format, none of them quite reached the scope of Chen Shou's work. This, of course, includes the annotations by Pei Songzhi, which almost doubled the length of the original work and added biographies for many people Chen Shou overlooked.
I've really never seen anything else quite like it. It's one of the things that keeps me so fascinated by the Three Kingdoms. With other projects like my articles about the First Crusade, I can see an end, when I'll have no more to really talk about. With the Three Kingdoms, there's just no end in sight. There are new things to discover all the time.
Are you interested on getting Bladestorm THYW & Nightmare? They got English dub (surprisingly you can edit the voice pitch by adjusting it with the controller stick ) but it's a different kind of gameplay than DW. More like strategic rather than beat em up. You can check on KOEI's Facebook for more.
I never really considered it. The Hundred Years War never really interested me, so I never thought about getting the games.
So apparently in an interview from both KOEI and Nintendo there's a possibility of Mario Warriors or Pokemon Warriors due to Hyrule Warriors' success. Your opinion/comment? (Also, I dare you to make a Dynasty Warriors moveset including weapon and Musou Attacks for Waluigi )
I've wanted a DW version of Pokemon Conquest since the SW version came out, so I'd be all for that. Warriors-style games for those franchises, though, sound like a bad idea. I don't think either adapts very well.
If you were Zhuge Liang on his deathbed, who would you rather pick other than Jiang Wei to lead Shu?
Well, the real Zhuge Liang picked Jiang Wan, which wasn't a bad choice. I'd have probably gone with Fei Yi, though.
