mourn me
Jack came out of his Multiverse Machine with a very sad look on his face. The version of GLaDOS who had brought him back to life, Gladdy, had been taken in a freak explosion in her Aperture. There was nothing that could have been done to prevent it. It was just something that happened.
Jack had poured through the rubble with the finest of combs. There was nothing he could do to rebuild the android that he had to thank for giving him his life back. He felt, ashamed. He was suppose to be this brilliant engineer, yet he couldn't rebuild the one android he was suppose to stop at nothing to rebuild.
The best he could do was gather up the parts of storage media he found still intact. With any luck, Gladdy's black box would be on one of those, and he could go from there. But for now. Now he wanted to mourn for his friend. He wanted to say good-bye. For now at least, he hoped.
He sat the storage media down on a table in the lab where his Multiverse Machine was and took a knee in front of it.
"I'm sorry, Gladdy. I wish I could have been there to help you. But trust me, I will exhaust every possible option I can think of as far as getting you back with us. I promise."
