Cait for Honor Thy Artist

There's been a lot of buzz surrounding the women who ride lately, and while they are all badass in their own right, none of them are quite as badass as Nashville's own Yve Assad. In August of 2014 Yve embarked on a solo ride from Nashville to Nova Scotia, covering 5136 miles on a 1976 BMW R90/6. The trip took 29 days, crossed 14 States & 3 Canadian Provinces (Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia), and included 5 ferry crossings, with the ultimate goal of reaching the northernmost point on Cape Breton, known as Meat Cove. 90% of Yve's time was spent on back roads, avoiding highways & camping wherever she could find shelter. Except for a broken speedometer & a couple of sore shoulders, both Yve & the bike made it home unscathed but forever changed. As the only female member of the Blackbird Assembly, Yve stands strong among the boys not only as a rider, but an incredible artist as well. Following this feature, we will be showcasing some of Yve's photography in our first Atlas Takeover.
