He had woken up, completely changed from the brush with death. There was little he understood about God’s decision to send him back but there was one thing he did understand. He wasn’t scared anymore. The worst had happened already, he had died and been resurrected in the same body but he was sturdier now. The rules behind this new life weren’t clear, he knew there were souls to reap and to guide to their rightful home but that wasn’t what was on his mind.
Once he had been recollared, this time with something stronger to keep his magic at bay, Patrick had been allowed to go back into the castle. This time he went to the doctor’s office without any worries or hesitance. Knocking on the door, he hovered, watching the nurse work for a moment. “I’m sorry to interrupt,” he started and then shook his head. “I’m not that sorry actually.” It was strange, he didn’t feel sorry for much. He felt darkness and anger but it was a righteous anger.
“Things have changed.” Patrick watched the nurse carefully, seeing the darkness around him as well but he was still pure, full of holy light. A good soul that would find a way home at the father’s side in heaven. “You’ve changed and I’ve changed.” There was still one thing that hadn’t changed. Closing the space between them, he pressed a hand to Zacharias’s cheek, tilting his face up. “This hasn’t changed.”
