Sasuke stans who are also SNS shippers make me incredibly wary of their takes. Like what do you mean only Naruto can "fix" Sasuke 🤨? Why does Sasuke even need to be fixed? Y'all go on and on about how Sakura fandom uses their favorite character to "fix" Sasuke in their fics and headcanons, but aren't you all doing the same?
Sasuke discourse is like 99% clownery and 1% logic.
The question has never been about innocence, of whether they are guilty of crimes or not, and certainly not about ethics or morality. It’s about the position they are in, the situation that draws out their instinctive response and how they react to it. A victim is still a victim no matter the person, and to insinuate that they are to share the blame alongside their perpetrators...
I genuinely dislike how often for the sake of fulfilling a shipper’s fantasies, characters who have a lot of depth, and whose motives, while questionable, are intriguing to watch/read about, are reduced to shallow, one-dimensional love interests. They are stripped off all the traits that make them them, and are chucked into one small box with a maximum of two labels attached to it, which becomes their whole personality. Their goals, the choices they make and their actions that drive the plot forward are erased to make way for headcanons that are so far off the mark from canon that it makes you grimace and want to never see those abominations on your dash ever again.
Sasuke fandom: I'm gonna sit down and write 100K words of hurt/comfort Sasuke-centric fic where he's showered with all the love and care he deserves in the whole world and nobody can stop me from throwing in some wholesome found family bonding with Team Taka. Everything will be just soft and mushy. Pure gen, if you ask me.
