Still designing clothes for Howl’s World
I’m going to have fun drawing Lettie in her May dress and Howl can be sophisticated as much as he likes.
I’ll also be adding the things that Diana Wynne Jones mentions in the book like the long sleeves is an actual fashion trend among the dudes and its probably because the popularity of magic would also affect fashions so there is definitely some non victorian and edwardian themes that I’ll add in.
The only steam engine I spotted was during the house of many ways when Charmain was washing the clothes with Peter. So, maybe they’re like at the precipice of starting to invent stuff like that. There is no mention of trains or steam boats since the people in Porthaven rely on Howl’s wind spells.
For Ingary I’m using Mostly Edwardian with Victorian and fantasy elements while Charmain’s kingdom has mostly late Victorian and a few 17th century elements and less fantastical stuff because the kingdom isn’t the fondest of magic.
I’ll still research more on elements that I think would fit the aesthetic of Zanzib and the timeline.
